First and foremost I’d like to thank everyone who supported me throughout my educational journey, who always supported me and believed in me. Friends old and new.
On May 18th I graduated from CSULB, something I didn’t think was going to happen. EVER.
Shoutout to Walter, David, my little brother, Marco and Luisana for pulling up and showing their support.
I would also like to give a big thanks to my girlfriend for being the reason I went back to school in the first place, for helping me out on my projects and school work, for never giving up on me and always believing in me.
I would also like to thank my mom for also believing in me and helping me out through the years in every way possible.
To my son, I did this for US!

Can’t believe I made it here…

I signed up right after finishing a Half in October. I thought I had a head start in training—until a car accident changed everything. Running became painful, and I had to stop, going to chiro multiple times a week. I started to accept that I might have to wait another year to run the marathon.

Then, when I least expected it, I got cleared to run. “Take it slow and listen to your body,” they said. I panicked, feeling like I was starting from scratch with little time to prepare. So, I made a choice: no time goals, no stress—just cross that finish line. Some days I ran, some days I walked, biked, stretched, or simply rested. I learned that if I took care of my body, it would take care of me.

By race day, at Dodger Stadium, the nerves disappeared. I had all the feels crossing that start line. A runner shouted, “I love this city! What a beautiful city!” And yeah, I definitely cried.

The first half was smooth—the weather was perfect. I had already run the course before and knew what to expect.

Except mile 13… I felt nauseous, light headed, and my hamstring tightened up. I was scared—scared
of getting injured, scared of passing out, scared of not finishing. My demons wanted one last dance. And dance we did. Thank you @_ahbeenunez for the pep talk 🫶🏼

Seeing the finish line at mile 18 brought me my second wind—I had run these hills before. I got this. Seeing friends and family and receiving texts meant everything. My final boosts.

I ran my first marathon in 5:46. Pretty damn good considering the journey it took to get here.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported me through these four months—all the kind words, motivation, and belief you had in me. And thanks to @vforvitale for “bullying” me into signing up. I met so many great people and made unforgettable memories running with @longbeach.runclub @sundayservice.run @dtlarunning

I went from saying, “Maybe one day I’ll run a marathon” to now being part of the 0.01%😎

Ending this with “See y’all out there” 😉
