POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We updated the marquee for the first time today. Special thanks to the gusting winds and intermittent hail for the assist.

Every little task like this is one less thing we need to learn (and letter stash we need to find) as we work towards reopening. #ykiff #wamp #moviemagic #weboughtatheatre

Crushed

“A local can collector navigating her usual morning routine in the park is surprised to encounter a fresh new face also collecting cans.”

Join us at YKIFF for the annual Pitch This! Short Film Pitch Competition
Friday, November 6, 2026 7:00 PM Elk’s Lodge for a screening of our film “Crushed”

This annual pitching competition, proudly sponsored by Northwestel! Aspiring filmmakers pitch their short film ideas live to a panel of judges, competing for a $5,000 cash prize plus in-kind equipment rentals courtesy of Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP). Judges score each pitch on how feasible it’d be to actually produce within the resources on offer. Cheer on your favourite pitch, and when the floor opens for the Lightning Round, toss in your own wild idea just for fun.

Uniaraqtuq: One Who Mushes is a 4-part documentary series for @isumatv and @northwestel that will air in 2027. But we are excited to share that Episode 1 will be premiering on November 8 at 6pm as part of @wamp Yellowknife International Film Festival. Kylik Kisoun Taylor and myself have been working hard over the past year to bring this story to the screen, along with an incredibly hard working crew and participants. There were some long hard days in the mid-winter Arctic wilderness, but we are so proud of this youth-forward story of community, learning and many many dogs!! See you at the festival!

This is so cool! A live table read with music and sound effects. Truly an honor to have my screenplay celebrated by an established festival like this. Warms my Florida man heart even more! :) thanks @wampnwt

Last winter, in addition to filming LUMI, I had the honour and pleasure of following my daughter, Sadeè, as she continues pursuing her dream of becoming a professional hockey referee. I’m really proud of this documentary and of my girl. It opens on November 6th as part of YKIFF. Come join me to hear the story of one of the most inspiring people I know. #itshercall#documentary #filmmaker #womeninsports

Woah! THE 18TH HOLE screenplay is going Arctic. This one means a little more than just another laurel too.

THE 18TH HOLE screenplay was selected for a full table read at the 20th anniversary Yellowknife International Film Festival, a Canadian Screen Award qualifying event.

They’ll be reading all 19 pages with local actors, live music, and sound effects.

Still kind of hard to believe people all over the continent are celebrating my writing. This one reaches way the f@(& up there. Haha. @wampnwt thanks!

@wampnwt 🎶 📣 CALLING ALL MUSICAL ARTISTS!

For the first time ever, YKIFF is hosting a Live Score event. What does this mean, you ask? It means that one lucky musician, band or DJ will be selected to create and perform the musical score alongside a film at this year's festival.

The soundtrack to any film is an important part, and we are looking for artists who want to create the mood, atmosphere and ambience of a preselected film LIVE on stage.

Get more details and sign up at www.wamp.ca, link in @wampnwt bio!
