Ward 7 shows up for our teachers and our families. Yesterday’s event hosted by @washingtonteachersunion proved it yet again.

The Washington Teachers Union is holding community conversations in all 8 wards, and our room was full of energy. Parents, teachers, and neighbors who don’t even have children in school sat together and talked about education, because it touches every one of us in a different way.

As the Ward 7 Education Chair and a Ward 7 Mom, I was glad to stand alongside WTU President and Ward 7 teacher Laura Fuchs, Councilmember Wendell Felder, SBOE Ward 7 Representative Eboni-Rose Thompson, Ward 7 Democratic Party Chair Tyrell Holcomb. And a shout out to Ward 7 Education Council member, Ward 7 mom and WTU member Lenneil Turner, who was in the room too.

As a mom, I know this to be true: when people come together around education, kids’ lives change and family trajectories change. I’m proud to be part of this movement.

Thank you, President Fuchs and your team, for the thoughtful planning. Including parents and community members in conversations about things like the teacher contract is innovative, and it builds real buy-in. That’s how the union stays strong, for its members and for our kids and families across DC.

📢 DC DEMOCRATS: WHAT IS THE PLAN?

Democracy requires more than promises, political slogans, and election-season engagement. It requires action, transparency, accountability, and measurable results.

Tonight, I published an open letter to the DC Democratic Party asking questions that I believe deserve clear answers.

What is our strategy to achieve DC statehood and protect Home Rule from continued federal overreach?

How are we educating and engaging voters across all eight wards, particularly in Wards 7 and 8?

How are we investing in grassroots leadership, creating economic opportunities, and recognizing the contributions of Black women who have spent years organizing and serving our communities?

And most importantly, how are we measuring progress and holding ourselves accountable?

As an educator, former Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, former Ward 7 Democratic Committeewoman, and longtime community advocate, I believe public service requires more than showing up during election season.

Accountability is not an attack. Asking questions is not disrespect. And demanding transparency is not disloyalty.

We cannot demand accountability from the federal government while refusing to examine accountability within our own political institutions.

Our democracy belongs to the people—not just political parties, elected officials, or those with political connections.

I invite DC residents, community leaders, elected officials, and fellow Democrats to read my latest Medium essay and join this important conversation.

Democracy cannot survive on promises alone. So, what is the plan?

🌱 PHYSICAL. MENTAL. SPIRITUAL. HEALTH. 💚

Walking 10,000 steps a day. 🚶🏾‍♀️
Drinking more water. 💧
Getting 7–8 hours of sleep. 😴
Taking 15 minutes each day to meditate, reflect, and reset. 🧘🏾‍♀️

These small, intentional lifestyle changes have made a BIG difference in my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Last year, during my annual physical on my birthday, my doctor told me I needed to make some significant lifestyle changes to improve my overall health.

And by the grace of God, I DID! 🙌🏾

Nearly a year later, my lab results are improving, I’m feeling better, and I’m learning that taking care of myself isn’t selfish—it’s NECESSARY.

Now, am I looking forward to another mammogram? ABSOLUTELY NOT! 😂 But I understand the importance of preventive screenings, especially for women over 40 and those with a family history of breast cancer.

Our health is one of our greatest investments.

We cannot pour into our families, communities, careers, and responsibilities if we are constantly neglecting ourselves.

And improving your health doesn’t always require an expensive gym membership, fancy equipment, or a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Sometimes it starts with a WALK.
A glass of WATER.
An extra hour of SLEEP.
A moment of PRAYER.
Or simply giving yourself permission to REST.

Progress doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through consistency, discipline, faith, and grace.

💚 D.C., I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU!

What have YOU done today to improve your physical, mental, or spiritual health?

Drop it in the comments! 👇🏾

Let’s encourage one another to live healthier, more intentional lives—one day and one step at a time.

Plant. Grow. Lead. 🌱

🗳️ I CAST MY VOTE! DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!

There is something incredibly powerful about exercising your right to vote, especially when you have the opportunity to write your own name on the ballot! ✍🏾

Today, I proudly cast my vote and wrote in PATRICIA STAMPER for ANC 7E04!

As a Ward 7 resident, homeowner, mother, educator, and community advocate, I believe leadership begins with showing up, staying engaged, and doing the work.

Our neighborhoods deserve representation that is ACCESSIBLE, ACCOUNTABLE, and ACTION-ORIENTED.

In this Reel, I’m demonstrating how to cast a write-in vote for ANC 7E04. My name will not appear preprinted on the ballot, so residents who wish to support my candidacy must write in PATRICIA STAMPER in the designated space.

I also voted YES on Initiative Measure 86, supporting the prohibition of force-feeding birds to enlarge their livers and banning the sale and distribution of products resulting from that practice.

Voting is more than selecting names on a ballot. It’s an opportunity to express our values, shape public policy, and determine who represents our communities.

Whether you’re voting early, voting by mail, or preparing for Election Day on November 3, I encourage every eligible voter to participate in our democracy.

Ward 7, our voices matter. Our neighborhoods matter. Our future matters.

Let’s continue building a community where residents are heard, families are supported, and leadership remains connected to the people it serves.

Patrick and I ran into my school mate from undergrad @sirlarrieu and enjoyed some outdoor theater music near Eastern Market Metro as the ☀️ lowered in the fall sky! Truly enjoyed just relaxing outside near @metroforward and it was really rewarding and relaxing seeing, talking and being in community outdoors! DC get your theater tickets because the stages here in DC has so much talent that you must see in person! #DCTuesday #OutdoorMusicDC #Stamper4DC #Ward6 #EasternMarket

🚸 Our crossing guards should not have to risk their lives to get our children safely across the street.

Today, I spoke with Ms. Didi, a longtime crossing guard serving families near KIPP on Benning Road in ANC 7E. She shared that drivers have nearly struck her while she helps students and families cross safely. I have witnessed these dangers firsthand: during arrival and dismissal, cars double park, traffic backs up, and some drivers speed or drive recklessly through the school zone.

I am requesting that DDOT immediately open a formal traffic safety investigation, conduct on-site reviews during arrival and dismissal, and provide the community with a written timeline for corrective action. DDOT should evaluate and implement near-term measures—including additional crossing support, high-visibility signage and markings, daylighting, traffic-calming treatments, and targeted enforcement—and determine whether automated traffic enforcement can be deployed lawfully and quickly.

I am also calling on DDOT, KIPP, Councilmember Wendell Felder, Transportation & Environment Committee Chair Charles Allen, Chairman Phil Mendelson, State Board of Education leadership, families, and crossing guards to convene a coordination meeting before the next school term. The meeting should establish safer arrival and dismissal procedures, including a clear traffic-management plan, designated loading and drop-off areas, enforcement responsibilities, and a public process for tracking progress and resolving hazards.

A school zone should feel like a school zone.

Our children deserve to get to school safely, and our crossing guards deserve to return home safely.

Safer streets. Safer school zones. Safer Ward 7.

Terrific Tuesday! 🙏🏾

I started my morning attending a Prayer Breakfast at the @dcdreamcenter, where I had the opportunity to fellowship with pastors, reverends, bishops, doctors, and faith leaders from across the DMV.

Today’s message focused on grace and favor through the story of King David and Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth. David chose to extend grace to Mephibosheth, who was physically disabled, restoring land to him, providing people to care for it, and giving him a place at the king’s table.

David didn’t have to extend that grace—but he chose to.

That message spoke to me because God shows me grace every single day. He continues to provide for me, protect me, and cover my boys and me.

Even in this season of unemployment, I am blessed and grateful. I have faith that God will provide the right employment opportunity—one that meets the demands of my life today while helping me build toward my future.

I remind myself often:

“Faith without works is dead. Focus on the work.”

So after breakfast, I put that into practice in another way—I walked from the DC Dream Center to Potomac Avenue Metro to stretch my legs, clear my mind, and get my steps in for the day. 👟

Another day without a car, but another day grateful that I can keep moving with @metroforward. 🚇🚌

Grace. Faith. Gratitude. Work. Forward movement.

Continuing my journey without a car or access to a car readily accessible….

Today I went to @breadforthecity over in SE for my once a month grocery shopping 🛒
Today however, I do NOT have my wagon or assistance from the #StamperBoys but I had the support of @metroforward to make it happen! #StamperOnTheMove

Oh marvelous Monday has arrived again. This week is about setting a new morning routine for the #StamperBoys because we are working towards zero tardies and on time attendance! PJ expressed that he wanted to be on time this week and Patrick not to be left out of course wants perfect attendance to earn a dress down day. That means the Stamper Family needs to be walking out of the house on time every weekday morning! As a single mother and educator I know for a fact routine is vital to ensure improved behavior and more regulated children. Plus I am blessed to have before care and after care this school year! *Insert praise dance* #StamperFamily #StamperBoys #StameprOnTheMove #StamperForWard7
