Water on the cue list. For "Ripples 3" by @brunositton in @paradisoadam , we developed a way to make a single drop of water fall exactly on cue. Its ripples are captured and projected onto the rock above, the very spot the drop fell from. Our part: the water table concept, a DMX-controlled droplet device and the lighting around it. That way every ripple could be cued to the show like any other fixture. Hardware and embedded software are what let physical things take orders from a show. Got something physical that has to take a cue? Send us the sketch, the render, or the thing you were told could not be built. info@physicalmatter.nl Concept & jam leader: @brunositton Water basin: @junobrown_ Artificial rock: @wardstrootman Production: @dekunstfabriek.699 #embeddedsoftware #hardware #dmx #lightingdesign #lightart #installation #paradiso #interactiveinstallation #creativetech #designstudio #physicalmatter #whatwedo

Last year the circus came to town for my birthday. Clowns, cages, a live snake and looks to die for. This year we are going to Hollywood. The final countdown has begun.

ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴘᴏꜱɪᴛɪᴏɴɪɴɢ ᴄᴀɴ ʙᴇ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴇᴛᴇʟʏ ʀɪɢʜᴛ. ᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴛɪʟʟ ꜰᴇᴇʟ ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴇᴛᴇʟʏ ᴡʀᴏɴɢ. Jup. And I see this happen more often than you might think. Especially when you’re in a transition period and your inner shift hasn’t yet caught up with the way your brand is positioned, presented and perceived. Sometimes the positioning is simply outdated.
You’ve grown, but your brand hasn’t. Other times, the brand got away from you somewhere along the way. The positioning statement is right.
The niche makes sense.
The visual identity looks solid. And yet something doesn’t quite land. Because somewhere during the construction of the brand, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭. Maybe you’ve started dressing in bright, popping colours because that’s what visible looks like, while your real presence is quieter, more nuanced and highly distinctive. Maybe you’ve positioned yourself at a level you think you should be playing at, rather than one that actually feels like yours. Or maybe you’ve simply copied what seems to work for everyone else and planned to make it your own somewhere along the way. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬. Because positioning isn’t just about finding the right words, niche or value proposition. It’s about creating a position that you can actually own and 𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭. And that’s where I come in. I look at the space between 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐞. Because when those things are out of sync, no amount of polishing your brand statement will make it feel right. Keep reading in the comments 👇🏽
