Being in the Olympics was never a dream of mine.

I always said Freeride would never be part of the Olympics. “It doesn’t fit the mold, there’s too many weather variables, it’s a logistical nightmare because of the remote locations that the sport requires.”

I didn’t care, because the Olympics was never my goal. Pushing my riding was. Being a part of the community was. And snowboarding as much as I could was always at the core of it.

Freeride is an easy sport to like. But I think it will be hard for many people to understand. The idea that multiple different lines, styles, and strategies can win makes it too subjective for the average viewer, but that is essential to its identity. I really hope that the sport isn’t altered to fit the public idea of what a sport should be. Because if the judging is changed so that there is a mathematical formula for which airs to take and what tricks to throw, or if they choose to prioritize crowd accessibility over ideal terrain, then the sport will lose what makes it special.

At the core of what makes it so great to be involved in: it’s all about riding. Not drilling specific skills over and over, but just skiing and snowboarding all different types of terrain and conditions. The best practice is riding. The training doesn’t look like other sports, because the competition isn’t like other sports. As kids start to dream of the Olympics, it will become increasingly important to keep it fun, keep it loose, keep it creative.

I am excited by this decision, and hope that it will bring more resources and opportunities for the athletes involved. It is such an amazing community to be a part of, and I can’t wait for more of the mainstream to see what a crazy cool world this is.

However, it is a an inflection point where we will need to remember what our priorities are. The Olympics was never my goal, and although it is a goal of mine now, it doesn’t change what I love about Freeride or snowboarding.

This picture is pretty representative of the past winter. Some good, some bad🤷‍♂️ (nice shot @michaeladavismeehan)

Got to travel around the world again, see some crazy places, and hangout with great people. But a lot of gaps between storms, historically warm temps, and less time on snow than usual made it difficult.

Started the year with a podium, then a crash, a minor injury led to pulling out of World Champs, some time at home, 3 cancelled comps, got cut from the @freerideworldtour, spent 2 weeks in Canada and re-qualified for next year. So… I guess I finished right where I started.

All in all, I didn’t get enough winter this season, so hopefully the next one comes soon🍻For now, bike time🫡

FWT 26 iPhone Dump/Recap

This season was by far the most exciting and challenging one I’ve ever had. The people that were a part of this season were the best piece of it all 🙏🏽 thank you to all who I have smiled, laughed, shredded, cried, stressed out, and more with this season! ❤️

1-5: Verbier. Over the moon that I was able to share the grand finale with my beautiful partner ❤️‍🔥 Powder was deeeeep, vibes were unmatched, group steez was through the roof

6-8: Haines. Alaska is the material of dreams and connection. What an honor it was for the mountains to let us slide our sticks down them in such perfect conditions. And what an honor it was for some of the local Tlingit people to perform and welcome us to their lands.

9: Mission to break @mollyarmanino out of the hospital in Innsbruck 😂

10-12: Georgia was probably my favorite leg of the tour even though the comp was canceled. It was the coolest range and culture I’ve ever experienced, and I’m so hyped to go back next year :) Beware of that chacha

13-16: Val Thorens, where I broke onto the scene ⚔️ Coming fresh off a bad result and a heavy knee tweak, I was puckered to get a good result. That 2nd place meant more than I knew at the time, sending me through to finals and another year on tour. Much love for the French crowd 🇫🇷

CHALLENGERS 2026!!!

Major takeaways: so stoked for a 3rd at Stop 2 (my best result yet!), I love this community (nothing new there) and finally feeling like I understand the intricacies of this sport (and how much more there is to learn).

A moment that stands out to me was the impromptu huddle of the snowboard gals after our final run. Everyone was so proud of each other and of how much the women’s snowboard field has progressed in recent years - it’s certainly time for two spots on the Tour. It was so freaking sick to see the support the entire group has for each other at the highest level of competition across two continents.

I’m so grateful to be part of Challengers for a second year; it was really cool to see how much not only my riding has grown this winter, but also my line planning (see pic 5, plus pic 6 is the view from the yellow star). But just like in physics, the more you start to understand something, the more details appear to dive into. Definitely feel like I made it to the top of a false peak - but in a good way! There’s so much more to learn!! Excited to keep pushing.

Biggest highlight is for sure the creeeew, huge thanks to everyone whether we had one convo or we cried together. Love y’all 🥹 It’s really special to be part of this community full of people who have worked so hard to be here, largely on their own dime, because they love it.

Aaaand of course a whole lot of fun was had exploring Nelson & Golden, jumping in freezing water, learning important Canadian culture, a solid introduction to mechanical bull riding, general silliness and if you make it all the way to the end some very cool volcanos.

Thank you @nicamp_ for the photos!! (1, 3, 11, 16)

Shoutout @westonbackcountry @drinkfabric @ifsafreeriders for making it happen 💪
