Someone help this kid out 😭

Yaxel Lendeborg has made an immediate statement right out of the gate, becoming the first Warriors rookie to start a season opener since James Wiseman back in 2020. After an eye-opening preseason that saw him average over 15 points, eight rebounds, and nearly four assists per game, Steve Kerr made clear the decision to start him was obvious, saying it became apparent after just three weeks that Lendeborg simply earned his spot in the lineup.

What makes this debut so exciting is how much belief the organization has already placed in him, with general manager Mike Dunleavy saying the rookie has exceeded even his own expectations and Draymond Green going as far as predicting he’ll eventually become the new face of the Warriors franchise, starting with a serious run at Rookie of the Year. For a player who took a winding path through junior college, UAB, and finally a national championship season at Michigan before going 11th overall, Lendeborg stepping into the starting lineup right away shows exactly why Golden State is so excited about his long-term fit alongside their veteran core.

Yaxel bringing the energy at Warriors open practice. 🔥

From singing along with fans to showing off a windmill dunk, Yaxel gave Dub Nation plenty to cheer for. The basketball is exciting, but seeing him enjoy the moment and connect with the crowd makes it even better.

Already feeling the Bay Area love. Looking forward to more moments like these throughout his rookie season.
