Ever heard of @noawatch? The name stands for None Of the Above—in reference their unique Italian-inspired designs, and they are still around despite their IG going dark a couple years ago. This one was a gift from the parents of an ex, and based on the rumors of their shady business dealings, I used to have dreams they were watching me and wanted to make me “disappear.” Like full-on mob movie stuff. For #unwoundwonders week, the boys @enthuseddad @itsabouttime_pieces @watchberger have me digging deep into the watch drawer, and what emerged is a selection of gifts, hand-me-downs, and oddities you may have never seen or heard of. Nothing fancy, but definitely some good-looking and interesting pieces in the mix. So tell me—what’s your favorite of the bunch? ⏬ 1. The defunct @greyhours only launched a couple watch designs before going under in 2020, but I’m a fan of the clean design and picked this one up myself in 2012. May have launched too early and missed the microbrand boom. 2. A gift from a college buddy back in 2006, @locman_italy_ and their aluminum Sport Tonneau is still out there with their beefy boating watches. I think it’s a good looking piece, but a bit large on my dainty wrist. 3. This 1994 @swatch Pure Black SCB114 dress chrono, a beauty that has held up nicely and is still going strong, gets the most wear of the bunch and probably deserves more… 4. The defunct (I assume) Orbita, a gift over 20 years ago and my first look at a skeletonized watch, is a somewhat cheap-looking piece made in China but interesting for any new watch fan to learn about a watch’s inner workings. 5. This @jorggray, known as “The Obama Watch,” was given as a gift to President Barack Obama by his Secret Service detail in 2007.
