The clubface doesn’t suddenly become a problem at impact.

For many golfers, it’s already too open much earlier in the swing.

Once that happens, the body has to compensate:

• Swing path
• Body motion
• Arm motion
• Tempo
• Contact
• Consistency

Using the @watsongolf, we’re helping this player improve the wrist angles—and ultimately the clubface—as he moves to the top and into the delivery position.

The goal isn’t to save the face at impact.

The goal is to organize the club earlier so impact becomes easier and more predictable.

If you’re constantly trying to time the clubface at impact, you’re going to live on the struggle bus.

Stop chasing impact fixes. Build better positions earlier.

Test your motion. Measure your progress. Perform with confidence.

Ever see your swing on camera and throw up? Me neither. 😬😂 Nah, results are decent but I’m gonna play with that takeaway and see if we can’t get that club head outside my hands a little better! @playerscup is 2 weeks away!

Comment ‘COIL’ and I’ll share with you 3 backswing drill videos to simplify your swing!!!

Your grip might be closing the clubface before you even start the downswing. 👀

One of the most common things I see is a too-strong left-hand grip.

Here’s why it can be a problem:

A very strong left-hand grip tends to create more extension (cupping) in the lead wrist.

Then, as you move to the top and try to get that lead wrist flatter, you’re making a significant change in wrist angle — and that change progressively strengthens/closes the clubface.

I used the @watsongolf in this lesson to make the relationship really easy to see.

By matching the Hanger’s clubface to the clubface, you can clearly see the difference:

➡️ Neutral grip → less extension → flatter lead wrist → more neutral clubface

vs.

➡️ Strong grip → more extension → flatten the wrist → clubface progressively closes

The goal isn’t necessarily to have a weak grip.

It’s to have a grip that allows you to arrive at the top with a functional wrist position AND a clubface that’s in a playable position.

Sometimes the best way to fix a shut clubface isn’t to change your swing…

It’s to start with your grip.

The Hanger from Watson Golf has been a game changer for me. It gives me instant feedback and helps put my hands and club in the right position throughout the swing.

Sometimes you don’t need to swing harder—you just need to get into the right positions. ⛳️🏌🏾‍♂️

Wyndham Clark is using a COAT HANGER to train his golf swing. 👀

A literal coat hanger.

And there’s a chance you should be too.

We’re using the hanger neutral to the clubface on a 7-iron. From address to the top of the swing, the hanger stays connected to your lead forearm, giving you a constant reminder of where the clubface is throughout the swing.

It’s a great way to visualize Lee Trevino’s concept of the “three club faces”:
1️⃣ The actual clubface
2️⃣ The back of the lead wrist
3️⃣ The palm of the trail hand

Elite players naturally flex the lead wrist in transition, but this is a move many higher-handicap golfers struggle to feel.

Try this drill:
➡️ Get off the hanger at the top
➡️ Use your trail palm to twist onto it
➡️ Move the hanger toward closure

It’s a simple training aid that can help you better understand lead wrist flexion and clubface control.

And if Wyndham Clark, a 3X 2026 PGA Tour winner, U.S. Open Champion and BMW Championship winner, is using it… it might be worth adding to your practice routine. 👀🏆

PGA Tour winner Kevin Streelman was back in the lab in Chicago recently.

We spent time working with the Tilt Stick by Watson Golf, helping him feel more rotational through the golf swing—a feeling that’s always been there when Kevin is playing his best.

The next week, he fired a 64 on the PGA Tour. It’s great to see the work translating to the course, and he’s definitely trending in the right direction.

👉 THIS WAS A NEW ONE FOR ME…..

✍️ New student, CW swings his wedges and woods left-handed and his irons right handed and has different strengths and weaknesses with both.

♊️ I essentially had to treat him as two separate golfers whilst we develop some pieces and see if it will be more beneficial to switch to doing everything the same or stick with hitting from both sides of the ball. Here is a snippet of some of the things we did in lesson one.

❓Which is the better swing?

Proper arm motion helps create the right structure, depth, and sequencing throughout the swing.

When the arms work properly with the body, the club is much easier to deliver on a consistent path with a stable face.

Clean up the arm motion and you’ll improve contact, speed, and overall consistency.
