In honor of International Women’s Day, we’d like to highlight & thank each of the women that have influenced the Idaho Period Project for good.

From volunteers to students to teachers to those experiencing period poverty, to those pictured here, and everyone from far and in between, we THANK you for being here in this space with us.

It takes all of us to advocate for menstrual rights, and we’re grateful for you.

Go celebrate a women that has touched you for good. Tag them in the commmets.

Today we’re featuring Emma Watts, Financial Analyst at Zions Bancorporation!

What brought you to Boise?
I’m from Pocatello and relocated to Boise this year due to my job!

Do you have any boards or groups you’re affiliated with?
As the National PERIOD. Community Organizer for Idaho, I collaborate with the @periodmovement team and local activists to support state-wide menstrual advocacy initiatives. Did you know Idaho is the only state who hasn’t at least introduced legislation relating to the tampon tax? I’m also a member of Women to Women Network.

What’s your involvement with BYP?
I recently joined the Leadership Team as the upcoming Professional Development Committee Co-Chair.

What do you like best about your job?
I am able to advise and support local communities throughout Idaho on things their communities rely on every day. I get to see the tangible impact I am making throughout Idaho, whether it’s a new fire station or a city snow plow.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Keep every stone they throw at you. You got castles to build.”

This quote reframes negativity and setbacks as opportunities. Use any and all experiences in life as a resource to grow and help shape the life you are striving towards.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
In your career, the most valuable currency is not how much you know. It’s how well you learn. In a stable world, success depended on building expertise. In a changing world, it hinges on evolving expertise. Potential is no longer defined by ability. It’s a function of agility.

What’s a fun fact about you?
I’m passionate about advancing women’s health & equity. While I was a student, I orchestrated the distribution of 86,500 menstrual pads across @idahostateu’s campuses, eight local public schools, and seven non-profit organizations.
