Positive conversation!

That’s what it should all be about. How can we keep this conversation as positive as possible. It’s not about what has been built, it’s what is gonna get built in the future.

Not many people would know this but I actually worked with @maverickskate going back to 2005. We all worked together at another skatepark company before the guys went on to starting up Mavericks. I then MC’d all the Maverick park openings (starting with this park in Dorchester) for over ten years. The guys at Mavericks are all legends and all close friends of mine (even when I do annoy the hell out of them at times).

I think it’s good to be transparent as this conversation about skateparks isn’t about individual companies, it’s about ensuring the best skateparks can be built in the future and how we, as a community can be positively involved.

Dorchester was opened in April 2009 and was a great day. It cost £190k back then and in today’s world would probably cost close to £450-500k. Such a fun park and great use of space and a fun quirky design. I’d love to see this park get a grind and polish to make it feel super smooth again. Great to see it has just been fully cleaned with some remedial works and it looks great.
