✨ Final NWA of 2024! ✨
●
As we close out the year, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude—not just for the amazing pieces that have joined the collection, but for the people who make this hobby so special. To my fellow collectors, watch nerds, and vintage treasure hunters: Thank you. 🙏
●
Speaking of icons, let’s take a moment to appreciate one of the ultimate grails: the Universal Genève Tri-Compax, famously nicknamed the “Eric Clapton.” This watch is a testament to the timeless artistry of UG, with its perfectly balanced triple calendar chronograph and moon phase. It’s more than just a watch—it’s a piece of history that embodies the understated elegance and craftsmanship that make Universal Genève so unique.
●
What makes this watch particularly intriguing is its reference: 222102/1, accompanied by a well-defined serial number, 2335xxx. Notably, this serial number is remarkably close to that of a similar piece sold by Christie's in 2018. This early reference is also documented in Petro Sala's authoritative book, a work informed by his privileged access to the Universal Genève archives.
●
The discovery of this piece brings additional clarity to a reference that has long been a subject of debate among collectors. With two well-documented examples now identified, along with the emergence of "Evil" dial variants bearing the reference 222102/2, the provenance and historical significance of this watch are further elevated.
●
The magic lies in the small but mighty community—the ones who appreciate the nuances of a Universal Genève. It’s this tribe that keeps the soul of collecting alive.
●
Here’s to you, the unsung heroes who keep the spirit of horology alive, away from the mainstream spotlight. Here’s to another year of chasing stories, not just watches.
●
Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. I Cheers to 2024 and whatever treasures 2025 has in store. 🍾⌚
