There’s not much we can do to convince folks to come to WYRD.

It’s a bit of a feeling thing, you’ll know if you felt it… and if you did, then it’s probably for you.

Does that make sense???

It probably won’t til later!

There are currently 6 tickets remaining for March 2027.

We spend a lot of time talking about how to make better work.

Better photographs Better businesses Better websites Better Instagram posts Better reels Better whatever the heck comes next.. And less time asking why we wanted to make anything in the first place. Y’know before we were blindsided by content (I’m fully aware of the irony)

WYRD was created for few days away from all of that.

A room full of people making stuff, talking about things, and questioning everything!
All whilst eating good food, staying in a beautiful location, getting out of our comfort zones and learning from each other.

I think that’s the whole idea anyway.. who knows where we end up.

Create the conditions & See what happens.

Wyrd has never been solely about a line-up.

But choosing people who get it, are doing things differently & perhaps choosing the path that’s a little bit crooked and gnarly.

They’re in it to be part of the conversation, not necessarily on a stage (there’s no Hierarchy here)

Because sometimes although it might seem and look like it on the surface, but none of us have anything completely figured out.

WYRD embraces that and tbh the conversations and realisations that come from that are the ones we’ll remember.

Sound like something you’ve been missing?

WYRD ROUND TWO.

There have been talks about how to approach the next WYRD Retreat, what to add or not to add.

And it has quickly become apparent that there’s so much valuable learning and engagement in having space. Which is what makes this unique. We are not trying to shoehorn as many names as we can onto a list of accolades.

There are speakers, photographers who have gained respect through our industry and have unique insights on navigating our art.. But something we noticed is these talks are usually a catalyst to a much bigger, deeper conversation that only really happens with allowed time & the space to do it.

This is what makes Wyrd Retreat unique in our approach. EVERYONE has something to bring to this big ol’ table, carved from the stone that surrounds the incredible place we’ve landed.

I can’t believe I’m already saying this, but tickets are almost gone for next March!

Are you going to be one who joins the Wyrdos?

“Wayne La is a proud South East Londoner. He’s an expert at pressing the right buttons at the right time. Sometimes on a camera.”

His work is full of sharp wit, sensitivity, and a wonderful sort of quiet absurdity that is often missed.

This is something that feels right at home for Wyrd so he has to be here! It took a little convincing, but thankfully he said yes.

Newsletter subscribers - the first one of the year is now in your inbox, and long-time followers might recognise the work of this month’s photographer... 👀

As @cronxlad - he spent several years capturing local faces (including at our Autumn Party at @ferncroydon).

Nowadays, @Waynela_ (a South London native with a history of questionable Saturday nights at the Blue Orchid 😜) continues to channel his human-centric approach, specialising in portrait and wedding photography.

He may have moved to the leafier surrounds of Whyteleafe, but his connection to Croydon remains defined by threads of optimism - and a firm belief that the spirit and energy of the town will always prevail, and prove the naysayers wrong.
