Way to Win is building a multi-racial coalition of progressive leaders across the country. The goal is the W— in elections, but also in the governance well after those elections are over. I’m grateful for their faith in our campaign and what we’re building. Mark my words, this election will have a rippling effect across the country.

Early voting starts October 13. Election Day is November 3.

🎧 Weekend listen: Terrance Woodbury joins Charting the Way Forward's Kerry Eleveld, President Tory Gavito, and media & research consultant Dan Ancona for "From Trump Curious to Trump Furious" (Ep. 83). They break down why Black voters could be the deciding factor between Democrats flipping the Senate this cycle and falling just short — and what it takes to move them from curious to furious. How do you define democracy and what does it mean to you? We asked Black voters directly and a common response was “freedom.” Listen to our focus groups from the Black Opps Project to hear more about democracy being the freedom of choosing, voting, and even pursuing happiness.

Trump’s policies aren’t abstract to Black voters, they’re personal. 60% say they’ve been hurt directly, which is up from 47% just a year ago. And the more it hits home, the more people are ready to push back.

The exception? Nearly 4 in 10 Black men under 50 say they haven’t felt any impact at all — a gap we can’t ignore.

We asked, “who do we need to defend against?” Black voters answered and the list starts with greedy corporations, President Trump, Republicans, and the billionaire class.

These individuals and entities were cited as most responsible for the erosion of democracy, with corporations and special interests (83%) and Trump (82%) topping the list. However, a majority of Black voters hold everyone accountable, no exceptions.

Black voters are done watching. 75% say it’s urgent to defend freedom, voting rights, and racial justice. And they’re ready to act. But there’s a gap: young Black voters aren’t as fired up to defend “democracy.” The lesson? Stop asking people to save democracy. Start showing them what’s actually on the line: their wallet, their rights, their safety.

I want to give a big shout-out to @behipgive and @vocesvalientesvf for inviting me to the annual Hispanics in Philanthropy Conference @hipconference . Ya’ll, if you had told me I would be overwhelmed with emotion on the brink of tears on Day 1, I wouldn’t have believed you.

What I walked away with was a feeling that I was lucky enough to be a part of something bigger than me. To see in person outside of the heartbreaking headlines that there are Latinos with unwavering drive to save our community. From big investments in projects designed to heal, to storytellers amplifying those same projects. But we have so far to go: Latinos make up 20% of the population but receive only 1-2% of funding. And real talk, despite these numbers, I walked away feeling not only inspired but hopeful for the future. Before this I didn’t realize how important I was, I never felt more inspired to do my part like everyone else I met. How are you going to do yours?
