✨Book Review✨
King of Ravens by Clare Sager @claresager

𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏. 𝑰𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆. 𝑶𝒖𝒓𝒔.

𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘴 follows Rhiannon, who is slowly dying and searching for a cure when her life is upended by Drystan, the ruthless Fae King of the Dead. Forced into a bargain to become his bride or lose her family, she enters a dangerous world of ancient magic, deceit, and dark secrets. But escaping his grasp may reveal a destiny she never expected.

As far as romantasies go, this has got to be one that is immersive and gripping. I love Sager's writing and her world-building. The world-building was intriguing, with a fascinating magic system and a darker atmosphere that perfectly fits the story. I enjoyed the political manoeuvring and the sense that danger was always lurking around the corner. The plot had plenty of twists and moments that kept me invested, although some parts felt a little slower-paced as the story took its time setting everything up.

Some parts weren't properly explained too, especially Phaendra's hostility/jealousy towards Rhiannon. I kept waiting for the backstory to drop, but it never happened. I was hoping that since this is only the first installment, more will be revealed later. Rhiannon's magic wasn't explored fully as well, and I was disappointed in that part.

I think one of my favourite things about this book was the tension between Rhiannon and Drystan. The slow-burn romance is packed with sharp banter, undeniable chemistry, and the kind of push-and-pull dynamic that keeps you wanting for more.

I definitely didn't see the twist at the end and urggghhh... can be talk about the cliffhanger ending??!!??? Clare Sager.. Why do you have to be so cruel with the ending????!!! I WANT MORE AND I NEED IT RIGHT NOW!!!

Overall, 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘴 is a lush and deliciously dark romantasy. If you love fae, magic, contract marriage, protective MMC, and forbidden desires, you won't go wrong with this one.
