At TianTongLi, a 1,250 sqm private residence in Shanghai, contemporary living is deeply connected to the city’s architectural heritage.

The architecture draws inspiration from the traditional red-brick Shikumen (石库门）houses of Shanghai, reinterpreting their distinctive materiality and sense of enclosure through a contemporary language. The interior, designed by @wubin5 is organised around a central courtyard, creating a dialogue between the intimacy of traditional Shanghai homes and the openness of modern living.

Within the master bedroom, Porro’s Boiserie Storage system becomes an integral part of the architecture. Wall-mounted modules, refined fabric back panels and carefully integrated storage create a wardrobe that feels less like a piece of furniture and more like a private architectural “cabinet”.

Wood, lacquer, fabric and leather bring warmth and depth to the composition, while open shelving and illuminated elements give each object its own place.

At TianTongLi, Shanghai’s architectural memory is not simply preserved, it is translated into a contemporary way of living.

Part of his Travelogue on Mountains series, the installation is presented at the historic Domaine National du Palais-Royal, marking Wu Bin as the first Asian designer to exhibit at the site.

Composed of a mirror-finish surface and a translucent, paper-like membrane, the pavilion takes the form of a circle divided into three 120 segments.

A traversable circular path runs through its centre, while peripheral seating invites visitors to pause and rest.

The mirror-finish surface visually dissolves the pavilion into its surroundings, reflecting the sky, architecture, and passing visitors. Meanwhile, the translucent membrane filters natural light, transforming the installation into a contemporary sundial at the heart of the garden.

Wu Bin (@wubin5), founder of W.DESIGN (@wdesignsh), has been invited by the Ministry of Culture of France·Centre des monuments nationaux to present The Pavilion of Time, a new installation from his Travelogue on Mountains series, at Paris Design Week 2026 (September 10-17). He is the first Asian designer ever to exhibit in the historic Domaine National du Palais-Royal.

The installation comprises a mirror-finish material and a translucent paper-like membrane. A circle is divided into three 120° segments. A traversable circular path runs through the centre, with seating along the periphery inviting pause and rest, allowing time to be perceived through movement and stillness. The mirror-finish dissolves the structure’s physical presence, absorbing surroundings, sky, and passers-by; the translucent paper-like membrane admits light freely, turning the installation into a sundial at the garden’s heart.
