Another Birthday in the Books!
I’ve had many memorable birthdays over the years...my Mom always made sure they were special celebrations. The fact that mine falls with the big summer holiday, it always gets prolonged for extra fun and finishes off with fireworks!

This year was no exception and stretched from a lavish dinner at @lebernardinny to a festive @verdellonyc dinner party at home with fabulous friends & topped off with cocktails in our rooftop cabana. Heaven on earth. And so many wonderful, thoughtful cards, gifts and wine-wine-wine!

All I could wish when I blew out the candles on my spectacular @lasweetsny pineapple coconut cake was for many more years of the same happiness. Here’s a little photo dump keepsake.

2025: a year of blessings, travel, old friends & new.

The year was dominated by the release of my historical fantasy “Kindred Spirits: A Titanic Tale” and its subsequent book tour that took me all around the world, celebrating with cherished old friends and making many wonderful new ones.

TV, cabaret, speaking engagements and cruise gigs also made for a memorable year of adventure, fine food and exotic locations. I wish I could share my entire camera roll in this montage but Instagram only allows 90 seconds of music! I have been pretty good, though, keeping up with highlight posts over these past twelve terrific months.

2026 promises to be just as busy and exciting, with more speaking gigs planned…holidays scheduled…and two new books slated for release. Keep watching this space!

It’s important to count your blessings and I have many.

Since I’m known for “Dancing Between the Raindrops”… I intend to keep up the joyful pace throughout 2026 and beyond. I hope you’ll continue to dance along with me!

45 years of NYC!!

Last night, I bumped into a friend while walking to the subway in midtown. We spent a few minutes catching up but it wasn’t until later I realized how often it happens that Manhattan is really just a “small town” in spite of its 1.6 million residents. Every day I see familiar faces; running in the Park, across the restaurant or on the subway platform. Maybe it’s because I’ve been around here for so long!

This month marks my 45th Anniversary (wow!) of moving to New York from my little small town in Pennsylvania. I was only 17 but always knew NYC was the place for me. I tried to be contained in my nearby college but spent every available moment in the city and, after two years, moved in full time. I chronicle those wonderful, outrageous years in my novel “Dancing Between the Raindrops.” The Eighties here were not for the faint hearted! I still have many of the same close friends I made as a teen.

In 1990, I relocated to Los Angeles for my career pursuits. Thinking I’d only need to give it a year or two, somehow 22 years went by in a flash! (Even though I made frequent visits back to Gotham City to see family and friends.). Those years are covered in my sequel “Dancing Between the Raindrops: The Hollywood Years.” Also steamy!

Since returning “home” in 2012, I’ve reconnected with my NYC roots in many wonderful ways so that it almost feels like I never left. That’s why I was so dismayed with the terrible SATC reboot “And Just Like That” which, in my opinion, painted an unlikable portrait of being 60-ish in modern Manhattan. I love it here more than ever!

Of course, like many cities, we are facing some tumultuous changes and I’m prepared to move on to the “next chapter,” if necessary but I’m hoping I continue to stay right here in my Harlem dream home....and “Bloom where I’m planted!”

The third and final installment of my book series will be coming in 2026. I think it will surprise you! “Dancing Between the Raindrops: Happily Ever After?”

And Just Like That...It’s Over!

News came that “And Just Like That” is ending after Season 3 (although it smells suspiciously like a cancellation) and for fans of the original “Sex and the City,” it spawned mixed emotions. While it is somewhat of a relief to put this often depressing spin-off out of our collective misery, it’s bittersweet to farewell characters so familiar to us for all those years.

Fortunately, my NYC world is still “Sex and the City:” vibrant, funny, glamorous and full of love. With the same 3 bosom buddies since the mid 1980s, it is recounted in the “Dancing Between the Raindrops” novel series with—mercifully—no cancellation in sight and many more chapters still to be written!

NYC: FRIDAY LOCATION CHANGE!

Last night I kicked off the East Coast leg of my book tour for “Kindred Spirits: A Titanic Tale” at one of my favorite Harlem haunts, Clay. Friday’s venue, however, has to change but is literally right next door to the original location. Beer, wine and the most spectacular homemade dumplings!

Momo Mama - 990 Columbus Avenue (at 109th Street)
Friday, May 2.
5-7pm
(Don’t let the “Crepes on Columbus” signage fool you!)

I’ll be there signing books (and assorted Kindred Spirits merch) and downing dumplings, so join me for Happy Hour!

With all due respect to Carrie Bradshaw, having just seen the trailer for the new season of “And Just Like That,” I know that MY third act in NYC is beyond compare! Eat your heart out Ms. Bradshaw…

Watch for the final installment of the “Dancing Between the Raindrops” trilogy coming in 2026!

“We need old friends to help us grow old and new friends to help us stay young.”

I am a man very rich in friendships. While I make new friends all the time, I am constantly amazed by how many “old” ones I remain close to, even if I don’t get to see them frequently in this busy world.

This last week, however, was an exception. I not only had happy hang-outs with some of my favorite neighbors and two of my closest local besties (whom I’ve known since the mid 1980s), I got to reunite with some of my dearest pals who were visiting NYC from the West Coast. How have the decades flown by so quickly and merrily!?

It’s said that the best mirror is an old friend. That is certainly true and it’s those people who know you best who really show you who you are. Friendships like those are priceless! Love you guys!
