Today is Tulip Café’s 1st birthday at Hollander Chocolate. In the last year, we’ve watched a dream come to life. What we never expected, though, was that the amazing community and team around us would become the real story.

Thank you to everyone who has let us become a part of your lives, joined our R&D tastings, celebrated birthdays with us, and brought your cool cars, friends, family, and cute kids. Thank you to the friendly faces that turned Tulip Café into a home.

So tomorrow, as a thank you, we’ll be pouring free Hot Cocoa and serving Mini Hot Fudge Sundaes to celebrate everyone who’s been along for the ride. Come say hi! 💛

Last month our team got together to eat and watch the debut of the Amarillo episode of Coffee: The Universal Language.

We’re honored to both Patrick and Krystal from @palacecoffee for allowing us a moment to share our story and to Nes and Darla from @weare.nd for providing the avenue and welcoming us into their documentary.

With a heavy heart but a smile, we also said goodbye to two of our longtime baristas, Hailey and Mel, who are taking the next steps in their careers. There are no proper words that communicate how much we appreciate them for helping to mold Herencia into what it is today. We love you both and pray for even greater success in your futures.

With that being said, you can find the Amarillo episode of Coffee: The Universal Language on PBS, Tubi, Amazon Prime, or YouTube.

Disco Fam!

It’s hard to believe that its been two weeks since our friends @weare.nd released the Milwaukee episode of their award winning series, Coffee: The Universal Lanuage, and almost a month since our premiere at Radio. Available now on YouTube, with more streaming platforms to come, the episode is just under 30 minutes and features us and our Founder @ryan.castelaz alongside our dear friends @likewisemke, @canarycoffeebar, and @tulip.by.hollander. Nes and Darla did such a tremendous job of capturing the essence of what we do here at Discourse: creating pathways for real connection, and for the transference of love and emotion and story and empathy through this humble little thing we call drink.

A massive, gargantuan thank you goes out to Nes & Darla for featuring our work and our home city! We are so honored to have been given a platform like Coffee: The Universal Language from which to live our mission of inspiring and empowering coffee creatives.

There is so much more for us to explore together, and we are infinitely grateful to you all for supporting this mission every day! We love y’all!

I had the huge pleasure of hosting the Miami episode of Coffee: The Universal Language, a series exploring coffee culture and the communities it brings together around the world.

For this episode, I was in great company with Leticia Pollock and Joel Pollock of @panthercoffee, Roland Baker of @vicecitybean, Andres Molina of @magdalena.coffee, and Carlos Santamarina of @tintaycafe.

We talked about Miami’s wonderful coffee culture, the people behind some of our favorite local coffee shops, and how something as simple as a cup of coffee can bring communities together.

As someone who once owned a coffee shop, this was an especially fun project to be part of!

The episode airs tonight at 7 p.m. PST on KLCS/PBS Los Angeles. ☕️

For our 4 year anniversary, the producers and directors of our documentary (@weare.nd) gave us a special viewing of the episode. We shot over a span of a week, and wanted to tell the story of us, our community and Café Cà Phê. There are no words to describe how we felt. Just tears. We loved every minute.

A few weeks ago, PBS premiered a documentary about Memphis coffee culture.

That video just hit 10K on YouTube, and we wanted to share our favorite moment from the episode with you all.

When @weare.nd originally reached out about doing the documentary here, we were excited because for so long we’ve been able to share so much of what we love about this city and this community through coffee with folks around the world.

But oftentime, Memphis doesn’t get a chance to see it the way that we see it, or the way our friends from Colombia or from Ethiopia or around the country see it through the expression that is Cxffeeblack.

Reading the comments has been so beautiful. So many people getting their introduction to Memphis, the way we see, and we feel the Way God does too.
