Created for the global launch of the Cadillac OPTIQ EV, Leading Light is a kinetic installation combining light, sound, and motion. Designed and engineered by Units from an original concept and artistic direction by @sebastian_kite, the work reimagines the Fresnel lens — a historic optical innovation — as both a light-shaping and sound-resonating element. 🏆🦁🏆 We didn’t just win 8 Cannes Lions, we got to spread an important message that women living in America’s “health deserts” deserve access to better healthcare. It was a privilege to direct this docu-commercial with mega talents at @fcbnewyork for Kimberly Clark’s @poise Drops of Hope. This past March, we travelled from Appalachia to Texas to film five women, each of whom shared their intimate struggle dealing with bladder leakage, a silent yet common symptom of childbirth or menopause, and the loneliness that can come with living in rural America. You can watch the 2-minute film on the Poise website (link in bio). THANK YOU Stacy, Sheila, Ruby, Tashuana, and Polly, for being so raw and vulnerable with us. Your voices are heard. No one should have to sacrifice their health based on their zip code. This story hits especially deep as I had a health scare a few months before we filmed. Something showed up in my mammogram. No family history. Before I knew it I was in surgery. I caught it SO early. (I go into more detail in my FB March 30th post). This is a reminder: do not wait. GET CHECKED!!! For the launch of the @cadillac OPTIQ, Units led the design, engineering and fabrication of Leading Light, a kinetic installation directed by artist @sebastian_kite and produced by @wearehelo & @dentsu This installation aims to transform space using mechanical movement, synchronized lighting, and spatial sound. The rotating lenses act as resonant objects, creating a responsive environment where sound and light constantly shift. Words can’t express how much this 3-day workshop meant to me. #SheMadeIt24 @evrdydrmr was truly one of the best experiences of my life. 🙌 For the first time, I was in a space that felt genuinely safe—a place where I could speak freely, connect with people who shared mutual struggles, and be understood as a queer woman of color navigating this industry. Being surrounded by such inspiring individuals made me feel seen, heard, and empowered. I highly recommend this workshop to any emerging directors, especially POC women and non-binary folks. If you’re looking for a community that understands your challenges and uplifts your voice, this is the space for you. 💥 Thank you again @shadehsmith and the team for opening the door to self-confidence and affirmation for me.
