About 50-80% of people with #multiplesclerosis experience walking difficulties. I’m noticing my walking pattern is beginning to change. My balance and coordination is off and I have mild unsteadiness. A foot drop presents as the front part of the foot dragging or scraping. That’s exactly what my left foot looks like it’s doing in this video😭, my physical therapist called this out weeks ago and began coordinating with my trainer @mr.trainhard 💪🏽. I am scared because this is the first physical sign of my illness but, I feel so STRONG and CONFIDENT about overcoming these physical changes. The word that comes to mind is #illmatic @weareillmatic #workout #healthiswealth #praisethelord 💪🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽 @mssociety

There’s something about being in a room with people who just get it!! 🥹

You may have different diagnoses, different symptoms, and different experiences with chronic
illness, but there are some things you just don’t have to explain.

That’s one of the things I love most about @weareillmatic Wellness Week(end). It’s not just about wellness. It’s about community, connection, and being surrounded by people who understand parts of your experience without needing the whole backstory.

And clearly, we have a GOOD time too! 😂💃🏽

We’re going Beyond Limits October 30th–November 1st in Atlanta, and I’ll be back again this year! 🧡

#Lupus often shows up on the skin first, and in Black women it can look very different from the textbook. 👀

A "butterfly rash" may not look red on melanin-rich skin. It can look dark, purple, or just like "uneven tone." Discoid lesions can leave scarring, light or dark patches, and permanent hair loss if they aren't caught early.

Too many of us are told it's "just eczema" or "just hyperpigmentation" for years before anyone says the word lupus.

I’m excited to return to Atlanta for @weareillmatic Wellness Week(end) 2026, where I’ll once again have the opportunity to lead a support group for Black women living with chronic illness.

This experience is especially meaningful to me because I don’t just enter these spaces as a Holistic Trauma Therapist. I enter them as a Black woman living with MS, too.

My lived experience is also what allows me to show up as a We Are ILL ILLfluencer, sharing pieces of life with chronic illness while being part of a community that understands it firsthand.

Wellness Week(end) brings together Black women living with MS, lupus, and NMOSD, along with the people who support us, including partners, friends, caregivers, and family. I’m grateful to be invited back to hold space for connection, conversation, and support again this year.
We’re going Beyond Limits October 30–November 1 in Atlanta, and I’m looking forward to being back in the room.
