Graduate Journeys is a new series from LCC that explores the different paths our graduates take on their career journeys so far. We learn about their humble beginnings that brought them to the College, catch up with them as they walk us through what they’ve been up to since graduating and talk how they’ve blended their personalities with their professional practices.

In episode 1, we meet MA Graphic and Media Design alumni Kenzo and Mariona, who met at LCC, fell in love and eventually became the design studio MAKE. They chat to us about their lives together, their careers and the balance between being business – as well as life – partners. #LCC #UAL #GraduateJourneys #LifeAfterLCC #GraphicDesign

Back in 2021, when I was still disinfecting groceries for no reason due to COVID-19, I was invited by @kenzomk and @becountry to develop the website for their studio, @wearemakeco.
Since I love coding websites with beautiful assets, I saw this as a great opportunity.
The project’s main challenge was to create a flexible admin, allowing freedom to present cases and ideas.
Despite hosting a lot of media, the website remains fast thanks to utilizing Next.js on the front end.
I have always been very proud of this project and you can see it live at wearemake.co

What do you love most about LCC?
Perhaps it’s the chance to find a partner in life - and in business.

Co-founders of MAKE, Mariona Ortiz and Kenzo Mayama, first met at LCC as MA Graphic Design students in 2009.

Their work couples design and digital culture, and we were recently delighted to welcome them back to produce the identity of our Postgraduate Shows 2023.
