For decades, murals have been making their mark across Broward County, turning buildings, parks and everyday spaces into larger-than-life reflections of the communities around them.

They tell local stories, celebrate the landscapes that make this place home and, in some cases, become landmarks all their own. Right out in the open, you don’t need a ticket or a gallery visit to experience them. Chances are, you’ve already passed a few.

Baker-Hall & Art Conductor hosted a cocktail reception at Domus Brickell Park, bringing guests together to meet the artists behind the work on display at Domus. Over drinks and conversation, attendees got an up-close look at each piece and the story behind it.

Oolite Arts alumni and artists made their mark in this year’s Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art @orlandomuseumofart, which recognizes some of Florida’s most compelling contemporary artists.

Francisco Masó @fcomaso (Ellies, Creator Award Winner 2026, 2022, 2020; Home + Away Resident 2022, 2020) received the Florida Prize for “The Coronation of Gladiolus,” an immersive installation exploring surveillance, repression, and resistance.

Ema Ri @ema____ri____(Studio Resident 2022–2023; Home + Away Resident 2022) earned the People’s Choice Award for their large-scale floral paintings and installation reflecting on memory, identity and renewal.

Tomorrow is the culmination of years of effort, and I probably haven't shared enough of the build up.

Back in 2018 to 2020, I hosted and produced two shows on @joltradio , until the pandemic shut things down. That run taught me a lot, mainly that wearing every hat at once is a recipe for burnout. So when I thought about bringing a show back, I told myself it had to happen under different circumstances: with more support, and in a way that actually fit where I'm at now.

Tomorrow I'm taking the first steps back toward one of the most fulfilling things I've done on this long road through Miami's arts and culture world: sitting down with creative people to talk about their stories and share them with an audience.

#ForYoInspiration , an hourlong conversational interview show, is relaunching on @miamicommunityradio . I'm planning a run of 6 to 8 episodes this season, talking to a range of creative guests across the city, including @dj_kumi @scaleton_ and @itz_csolano .

Kicking things off with @nuriarichards , artist and founder of Feria Clandestina, the art fair that started in her Midtown apartment and has spent the last few years living in Mimo motels. Looking forward to getting into her creative practice, and what it actually takes to build and sustain an art fair that works both creatively and financially.

Still haven’t visited The Florida Prize in Orlando? There are only two weeks left to see it!

The 12th Annual Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at @orlandomuseumofart is on view through Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Voting for The Florida Prize People’s Choice Award is open now through August 19.

Don’t think that because you’ve seen photos and videos, you’ve already seen the exhibition. This is an exhibition worth the trip to Orlando, and worth spending time with these works in person.

We hope this short video tour encourages you to make plans to visit before the exhibition closes.
