Happy one week anniversary of when we announced the first wave of bands for StrangeForms 2027! 🎂

Happy with your lot so far? That’s around one third of the tickets gone with even more stupidly handsome bands still to announce.

You are lovely. People probably don’t tell you that enough.

🔥 MATH-ROCK & PROG HEAVEN AT HOT BOX 🔥
Brighton & London’s instrumental icons @wearepolymath are heading to Chelmsford for a night of mind-bending, genre-fusing soundscapes! Expect a masterclass in progressive rock, blending Ethio-Jazz, Post-Rock, and heavy Math-Rock vibes inspired by King Crimson, Omar Rodríguez-López, and Mulatu Astatke.
Opening the night: Essex’s own @big_in_sheboygan , packing complex, shifting time signatures and sprawling prog energy into tight, explosive 3-minute tracks.
If you love technical riffs, deep grooves, and zero fluff, this double-header is unmissable.

Por Inglaterra: Poly-Math, Age of Distraction y Genesis

Y recuerden amigos: esto no es una competencia, es solo un pretexto para seguir escuchando rock progresivo del mundo aprovechando la fiebre futbolera de estos días. ¡Que lo disfruten!

And remember my friends: this isn't a competition—it’s just an excuse to keep listening to progressive rock from around the world while tapping into the current football fever. Enjoy!

Listening stats June 2026

Great new albums from Ok Goodnight, Periphery, Elder, Slift, Karmanjakah, Poly-Math, YES, The Dear Hunter, and Mankind 🥰 Right now I‘m especially in love with Elder’s Through Zero and Ok Goodnight’s stop/go 😍

The first half of this year has been especially good for new music, and a few of my favs aren’t even on here!

I listened to Mastodon’s setlist from their European headline shows, even though I couldn’t travel to see them, and ended up going through most of their discography. I realized I hadn’t really appreciated Once More Round The Sun much and even gave away the vinyl I had. Giving it another chance this month I really got into it and although it’s not going to be my fav Mastodon record, it’s definitely worth listening to it all the way though 👌

Lots of King Crimson (no album covers on last fm?), inspired by the BEAT concert in Düsseldorf and spent some time with classics from Pink Floyd, Björk, Soulwax, and Tool, as well as Yes who’s new album stays surprisingly true to their 80‘s sound despite having almost entirely different members.

There’s always time for great 2025 albums from Benthos and Vianova which continue to blow my mind and keep me dancing wildly 😝

The Hirsch Effekt‘s Kollaps will only become more personally moving and relevant to us as a society as earth becomes more and more unlike the place where our species has developed and thrived over the last 200 millennia. This album is both a reminder that we still can and must act and a warning of what will become of us if we don’t.

I checked out Loathe‘s latest single and went back to their 2020 album in honor of their supporting Mastodon on tour - great combination!

Top track is the new single from Yomi Ship that‘s got me in a trance and looking forward to the upcoming album!
