Healing starts with nourishment. 🌱

At MIC 2026, this first-time attendee shared the mission behind Nourish & Restore Wellness Foundation: supporting the military community through nutrition during trauma recovery.

Through food, gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking, and restorative experiences, the foundation helps people reconnect with nature, purpose, practical skills, and each other.

Her conference highlight? Being accepted into the inaugural Field Commission and learning more about running her organization.

Explore the mission at NRWF.org.

Leaving the uniform and leaving the mission can feel different.

At MIC 2026, An Army Veteran shared that civilian life has been a relatively easy adjustment. Stepping away from the Special Forces mission has been a different experience.

He also spoke openly about a mental health hospitalization during his transition.

Beside him: his service dog, wearing a “Free Hugs” badge.

One honest answer opened the door to another conversation.

What helped you find purpose after service?

From about 80 people to more than 4,000. The connection still feels like family. 🇺🇸🤝

On the MIC 2026 Mighty 25 red carpet, this longtime attendee reflected on being there since day one—through early brainstorming with Cortez to celebrating 10 years of community.

The advice for someone considering their first Military Influencer Conference?

“Don’t hesitate. Just come.”

What helped you take that first step toward finding your community?

“I’m with family. This is home.”

That’s how this Army Veteran answered when I asked, “How are you REALLY doing?” at the MIC 2026 Mighty 25 Gala.

His first red carpet interview turned into a conversation about reconnecting with people who feel like family—with a little Army–Marine Corps banter along the way. 😂🖍️

Who in your military community makes you feel at home?

They fought alongside us. Their stories deserve to be heard. 🇺🇸

Mighty 25 honoree Lyla Kohistany joins JMach at MIC 2026 to share her work supporting the U.S. Special Operations community and our Afghan Special Operations partners.

Afghans trained by Rangers, SEALs, and Green Berets who fought alongside American forces throughout the 20-year war.

A humble leader bringing attention to the people she serves.

Watch @lylakohistany share the mission behind her recognition.

“Good” was the first answer. “Tired” was the real one.

An exhausting week. An amazing experience.

At MIC 2026, this attendee’s highlight was seeing small organizations connect with bigger ones on the same level.

Different-sized organizations. A shared opportunity to listen, connect, and build something together.

How are you REALLY doing after MIC?

“He didn’t want to leave his buddies behind.” 🇺🇸

At MIC 2026, this military mom told me her son re-enlisted so he could deploy with his buddies.

Her pride in him came through every word. And I wanted to remind her: be proud of yourself, too. You helped raise the man he is today. ❤️

To the military parents holding things down back home—we see you.

Lost count of the days. Still making connections. 🤝🇺🇸

That’s MIC 2026.

From catching up with friends to meeting someone new, the Military Influencer Conference keeps bringing our community together.

I also caught up with Mike Kelly, a retired Air Force Veteran who shared how he helped get MIC started while at USAA. His highlight? Seeing @curtezriggs continue to keep this community connected.

Who did you meet at MIC that you’re glad you crossed paths with?

One of my favorite moments, from one of my favorite events at this year’s @militaryinfluencer #conference. Writing jokes for @tessa_t_r that she had not pre-read or approved (ala @chethinks & @colinjost on @snl #weekendupdate) for the #Mighty25 Gala. “Is this going to be a harmless joke or are we both getting fired?” 🤷🏻‍♂️ We will make this an annual gag? 🤷🏻‍♂️ #MIC #thomtran

Any Twelve O’Clock High fans out there? ✈️🎥
.
The 1949 film stars Gregory Peck as Brig. Gen. Frank Savage, an American officer tasked with taking command of an Eighth Air Force bomber group in England in desperate need of a morale boost. Dean Jagger won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Maj. Harvey Stovall.
.
Little-known fact: Real-life WWII hero Peter Ortiz is in the film. He plays a weatherman.
.
Ortiz—an NYC-born French Foreign Legionnaire turned U.S. Marine—emerged from WWII with two Navy Crosses. A rare Marine in WWII Europe, he was the most battle-decorated member of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS, America’s wartime intelligence agency). Post war, he went to Hollywood and advised and acted in many films, playing minor roles and sometimes wearing his real uniform and decorations.
.
Ortiz liked Twelve O’Clock High and its premise.
.
The co-authors of the 1948 novel the movie was adapted from—USAAF officers Sy Bartlett and Beirne Lay Jr.—gave Ortiz a signed copy of the book. In the inscription, they note their admiration for Ortiz and his remarkable service and story (which you can read more about in Ortiz’s War 📚).
