What is the meaning of craftsmanship in the world today?

In F ZINE Vol. 8, we turn our focus to those choosing to devote time, skill, passion and intention to their chosen craft. Case in point? The five creatives on this cover (from left to right) designer Nicolette Yip (@itsjustnicolette); founder of @beitballout Alia Ballout (@aliaaaballout); founder of @p.udica Bryan Kang (@bryankxe), DJ Manfred Lim (@myrne); and indie-pop artist Shye (@shye.mp3).

What do they have planned for the upcoming months? Find out in F ZINE Vol. 8 (May-June 2026), out now on newsstands and Magzter.

In our age of pervasive social media, selfies and oversharing, anyone can be the star of their own show. There are some people though, who even with plenty to shout about, prefer to keep things quiet.

Our #PrestigeSG cover personality for May, Ong Ker-Shing, is a perfect example. As the co-founder of Lekker Architects, a highly acclaimed architecture and design outfit, Ong is known for conceptualising thoughtful spaces that help its inhabitants to feel safe and supported – be it a luxury resort or an inclusive preschool. Despite her achievements and awards, Ong typically keeps a low profile, having only appeared in a handful of publications over the years.

As she reflected during our interview, “I am ambivalent about putting myself out in public. But on the other hand, you learn so much by doing things that make you feel a little uncomfortable.” Read more about her work and the various directions it has taken in tandem with shifts in her personal life in the link in our bio.

Elsewhere in this Cinematique-themed issue, we celebrate creations that deserve to be in the limelight. The Spring/Summer 2026 haute couture season, for instance, sees new creative directors at hallowed houses such as Chanel and Valentino using the highest level of artisanal craft to innovate while honouring these brands’ rich heritage.

Films have always transported us to other places. But some do so more literally than others. In a travel feature with a twist, we chart the destinations that exploded into popular consciousness following their appearance in hit movies. It might just inspire your next vacation.
