Jade from 2018 would be major SHOOKT if she saw this and even more so if I told her the whole story.

The public and site-specific art installation @weims.world and I worked on in 2016 was probably our first non-curricular project we had the chance to collaborate on 📐📏🖇 This was created for OH! Open House's open call in Potong Pasir and I still love it! 🏩

The installation comprised an anamorphic typographic work that read "来玩 (Come Play)" on the pillars of the void deck, to beckon people to enter. Within the void deck, we taped hopscotch grids that were designed in response to Potong Pasir's history.

It's been 6 years since then 🤯 The endless cutting and sticking of vinyls, of slipping into naps on the void deck floor, pulling all-nighters (& sleepovers) at weimin's popo's house, and most preciously the conversations with all the residents. I remember the encounters with the residents being what surprised us the most. I anticipated being met with questioning and cynicism about what we were doing. But rather, we were poured encouragement, curiosity, and company as aunties and uncles lingered for ages just to watch us work. A reminder that when engaging in work involving the community, it's as much about the process & relationships built while making it, as it is about the outcome 👥💟

1) Us in 2020 🦥 //////// 10) Me emulating a SIMs character walking into a wall (aka how I sometimes feel like on the inside ¿) 👁‍🗨🕳 Also, the other night I listened to a bible project podcast which shared that Apocalypse means “to unveil” rather than the boomer’s choice definition: ENDOFTHEWORLD. 🤯 Religious or not, I think we can all agree that this period has been one that calls for recalibration 🖤 and if you must, the end of the world (as we have known it). The world is not ending, but it is reforming! Hope that everyone has been staying afloat as we look towards progress, growth, and change as the only constant we have ever known! In very stressful times, I used to fantasise - wow what if a war broke out right now. would all of this even matter? What would I drop in an instant? Who would I be found scavenging and hiding in a cave with? This period has sort of felt like that! Thank god it’s not a war, but I think aside from recalibration, we have also been called to live more intentionally. Hope everyone finds their space of peace n intention 🔓👽 (Credits 2 @collarious for the CB chain illustration!)
