THIS WEEKEND!!! @nattietroggie and I are thrilled to share ‘Fallacies’ this weekend as part of @lmcc_nyc River to River Festival This work is a love letter to DANCE - our training, our influences, our community, our bodies, how information is passed on through our bodies over generations, the joy, the pain, the heartbreak, the transcendent and so much more. We are so thankful for ALL of the support and excited to present this iteration of the work this weekend. Sat + Sun June 8 + 9 @ 7pm Rockefeller Park - Battery Park City Shows are Free! RSVP 🔗 in bio! Danced by the brilliant @brendandrakechoreography @weiss.soserious @dwayne.blivin @__kat___ya__ @siennersss

This dance - it’s weird and strange because dance is a very strange and sometimes a very specific (and other times a very unspecific) thing. And it’s also at times is just a FEELING an impulse a need. And making dances is all about smushing together the embodied histories of many different people in the room and bringing forth lineage and casting away lineage and figuring out who the actual fuck you are when you feel like just a vessel for movements and your traumas. And sometimes we’re just searching for those dancers we used to be when we were younger while trying to embrace our new selves in these vessel bodies that are dying every day. We say such strange things to describe these movements like “kitty skitter” and “one dagga dagga” and “pop squish six 2 pas de bourree into Megan’s knees” and it’s equally so poetic and so absurd. Because dance is absurd. And traumatic at times and maybe the most honest thing we can do? Maybe? I don’t really know anything else that I am my most true authentic self inside of while simultaneously is also a whole performance. I am the most vulnerable when I’m dancing and yet I know that you know that I know that you’re watching me. Dance is the best thing in the world even though sometimes it feels frivolous and unnecessary but It. is. SO. necessary. Like life affirming necessary. Like I can never answer the question when people ask “what would you do if you weren’t a dancer” seriously with anything other than “I would be a dancer” Sure I can DO other things but I can’t breathe I can’t live if I’m not a dancer. Dance is my everything - even when it takes everything from me. I guess that’s what this dance - Fallacies - is about. And some ghosts too - ghosts in the room. Hope you can come witness it. This weekend. 🔗 in bio (yes I’m posting twice in a day. Sorry not sorry)
