Family portraits are always a mixed bag. Sometimes the kids are smiley and fun, and other times they melt down and are grumpy. Regardless, we’re capturing memories! Props to all the parents who get their families in coordinating outfits, offer candy or McDonald’s as bribes, and hire professional photographers to take these photos.

Kids rule! And I’m the biggest kid of all, so I always get a kick out of photographing them. They’re not always the easiest subjects, but I smile ear to ear when editing these photos.

Ten years ago, my HS friends @wekall and Ryan Leander spent 3 months trying to fulfill their insane senior year goal to hug @taylorswift. I hopped on their coattails and built them a website, catching the eye of her dad (who was googling pictures of her hugging @taylorlautner). After months of making videos, doing interviews, and walking old ladies across the street ON THIS EXACT DAY IN 2010 Taylor flew her entire band down to Auburn to hug the three of us and play us an acoustic set, along with a couple hundred screaming Auburn students. It had the stupid affect of making me believe I could do anything I set my mind to and I wouldn’t be where I am today without this bonkers crazy experience. Check out “a hug from Taylor Swift” on YouTube, Taylor’s team made a great doc chronicling the whole thing.
