We don't always wear amber, sometimes we wear the stunning blue and white Yorkshire vests and sometimes even extra fancy international ones! Three of our athletes proudly displayed their Yorkshire grit at the UK Inter Counties XC Championships at a VERY muddy Prestwood Hall in Loughborough. Having earned the right to wear the white rose back in January at the Yorkshire County XC Championships, Elena Inch, Isabel Richardson and Erica Byram fuelled the success for God's Own County. In the U20W race, Elena finished an excellent 12th, with Isabel coming home in 29th. Elena's high position contributed to the Yorkshire team taking a commanding victory, earning her a gold medal to savour! 🥇 Erica put in a gutsy performance to finish 50th in the highly competitive SW's race, helping the SW team earn a much deserved bronze. 🥉 Sunday saw the much-anticipated YVAA XC Championships in Beverley. Holmfirth took a huge team to the East Riding and showed great strength in depth across all Vets age categories. Joanne Jones powered to 2nd overall in the 5k W45+ and M70+ and 1st F45 🥇with Kevin Yewlett, Di Baldwin and Noreen Edery coming 2nd in their respective M70, F65 and 2nd F70 categories. The 10k W35-44 and M35-69 race saw Claire Leaver-Hewitt finish 2nd F40, yet another superb performance. Every single Harrier who made it to Beverley gritted their teeth and did the club proud in a highly competitive county for Vets XC! Our F45-54 and M70+ teams 2nd overall 🥈with our F55-64 squad finishing 3rd overall! 🥉A proper collective effort! Out of the mud, star sprinter Will Lander opened his account for 2023 at the Manchester Indoor Open Meeting, getting the legs turning quickly over 60m (7.53) and 300m (37.59). These were Will's first races in 6 months, and he's ready to open his outdoor track season very soon with some fast times! Let's have it, Will! 💪 What a weekend for us mighty Harriers. We really are gritty! 💛🖤💛🖤 #WeAreYorkshireGrit #holmfirthharriers #holmfirth #huddersfield #yorkshire #godsowncounty #xc #trackandfield #track #sprint #sprinter #mud #grit #snow #winter #2023 #training #whiterose #running #athletics #team #teamwork
