Outside of Time, an Outside with an Inside Inside, and Inside inside to the Outside, a group show featuring artworks that take us out of the structured, in bringing up the magic of the everyday and places us in a world that is timeless – seemingly historic, contemporary and futuristic at once hosted in a unique farm inside a historical moroccan architecture, from the late 50s offering it as a place of ‘white possibilities”, where past, present, collective memory and speculative future merge into one– a new wave-traditions-world inhabiting ideological thoughts. Bringing to mind the movement of the planets, where the magical intuitions merge all different artistic mediums into one , where sound waves are visible and time flows, bends, speeds up, slows down, and stops, the exhibition brings together artists from different mediums and visions, whose artworks touch upon science, technology, culture, the environment and human nature.
The opening of this magical new wave-traditions-world started under the rain with dance performance of @weldderb a young dynamic collective, emerges as the collaborative brainchild of four young talents, united by a shared source of inspiration - the pulsating heart of the working-class neighborhood, « Derb.” The performance put light on the historical “Nass el ghiwane” philosophy of finding inspirations and ressources from our traditions and ancestors. The Dance performance took part inside-entrance (Dawya :where all the light comes in) In the mean time…

• A counter-cultural youth amidst of the easiness of bullshiting in contemporary arts •

A lot to talk about. A lot to see. A lot to sell. A lot « qui tirent les ficelles ».
And yet it’s more nuanced than that. Among all the capitalism, there must be something that keeps it alive. Otherwise it won’t be this touching even when it is advocating distance and inaccessibility.
In between humans like glasses in which pretentious overflows there must be other people like channels in which tangible passion flows.
Of course one, and many, should be able to live from their arts. But when does one become the transaction itself ! But when spaces bear the name of subversive art movements and end up embodying it’s total opposite. And when all the texts have the words « questioning, interrogating » and nothing is actually being inquired and no one asked themeselves. No one asked for alternatives from the generic. No one investigated when the art that meant to free from boxes became just one big one.
Yet it is still this genuine beautiful sensibility and you know it. It’s always there. The research. The message.
The counter culture. The ones I showcased here are a few from many here and there that I believe to embody this. Ones that impacted me these days. And that shows in the way of doing, in the way of presenting, in the places it is being done, the alternative art spaces, the best they can, in the conversations it sparks, in the feelings it ignites, in the counter-models it is suggesting.
And who are they and who are we even us, the counter-youth maybe we are just the future pretentious of tomorrow… Maybe we shouldn’t blame them, them our inevitable future version. Us their past versions before the end of passion. Like in a cycle… I hope not…. I think not, I hope for us to easily follow the ranks of the few ones that are now grown ups but never outgrown the pertinence of art against the profit of cynism.
