Back in May, this year, my friend and creative director Carolyne Rapp reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in photographing Gloria Steinem. My answer was an immediate YES! I didn’t need to know when, why, or for whom. The thought of meeting and photographing Gloria was very exciting.

Carolyne then introduced me to Carly Berlin, founder and CEO of Weldun, a new platform / brand that at the time was developing for the launch in September . When I met Carly and heard her speak so beautifully about her vision and the purpose behind creating Weldun, I felt even more inspired to be part of this project.

Meeting Gloria was a very special moment that I will always cherish. A true icon, a force for humanity, and a beautiful human being. She generously welcomed us into her home, sharing her world of memories and travels with us. It was an intimate and unforgettable afternoon, filled with extraordinary conversations and the gift of her presence, generosity, and wisdom.

When I asked Gloria about her legacy and her lifelong fight for human rights, she reminded me that it is never about one person fighting alone. It is a responsibility we all share. As she said in an interview, “We need to carry the torch and light the torch of others.”

Thank you, Gloria, for such a special afternoon, for sharing your wisdom so generously, and for reminding us that the fight continues with each of us. We all have a responsibility.

Thank you for lighting our torches.

Earlier this week, Weldun (@weldun_) launched a new luxury marketplace that reframes fashion through the lens of physical change, bringing together beautiful design and thoughtful function for women whose needs may change––but whose taste does not.

In a world that views things in a very binary way––Abled/Disabled, Accessible/Not Accessible, Young/Old––it’s refreshing to see a platform that doesn’t ask women to choose where they currently sit, but rather broadens the conversation to include different life stages.

Weldun launches with a group of premium brands that signed on early to help redefine what fashion can be. These include Another Tomorrow, Mansur Gavriel, Rag & Bone (including their iconic flexible fit Miramar pants) MagnaReady, STILL HERE and Underwater Weaving Studio, among others.

Every piece is carefully and intentionally selected  through Weldun’s curation philosophy, mapping it across four functionality categories: Easy On / Easy  Off, Healing + Recovery, Sensory-Considered and Flexible Fit, making it easier to discover clothing  that honors both what women need and want.

Our co-founder Bérénice (@berenicemagistretti) spoke with Weldun Founder & CEO Carly Berlin (@craeberlin) about her inspiration behind the concept and her vision to offer women better fashion options.
