Good afternon everyone. After reflecting looking through some old folders and files on some old thumb drives, I found songs, Sibelius scores, and beats I made going back to as early as 2009. Hearing the amount of progress I've made musically and otherwise has been quite moving. Even at my current age, finishing a bachelor's degree over a month ago in May has been quite an emotional experience. Contemplating what I saw as “lost years” of foundational education. Discovering a love for things I didnt know I would like like coding, linguistics, or math. And having to play catch-up has only been part of the story, but a significant obstacle many folks I've met and know may not be able to completely identify with since their life paths were a bit more linear. Nonetheless, I am grateful for those that have supported me throughout that trek and after this contemplation, I recently decided to take a song I made a few years ago around the time I was declaring my final college major during the summer and repurpose it. It was an instrumental jazz rock song I made in FL Studio with a strong T-Square influence since I was binging their music a lot then after discovering that band. I also wanted to write lyrics for it and used a repurposed battle rap I was working on that I wrote to "Victory" by Biggie. I wanted to evoke the kind of aesthetic of a prize fighter or just a person in general vying for victory whether that competition be against an adversary or themselves. After combining everything in Suno this was the final output. I call this song “Choose Your Fighter.” Anyhow, let me know what you think. Thanks for taking time out of your day to listen and read this and enjoy the rest of your day and weekend ahead.
