🙌We’re excited to announce that HCC will be a Major Sponsor of NSA Welsh Sheep 2027.

Here is Russ Thomas, Industry Sustainability and Efficiency Manager, sharing the news from yesterday’s popular @nsawalesandborder ram sale!

HCC’s sponsorship is being funded through Phase 2 of Welsh Sheep Genetics (WSG), a three-year Welsh Government initiative managed and delivered by the red meat levy board.

At the event, HCC will showcase the programme and its role in encouraging the uptake of genetic improvement within Welsh sheep flocks.

We look forward to sharing more information about the event. For now, find out more on our website.

Hyperfixations: ADHD vs. Autism – Same Label, Different Vibes

I was at @welsh_sheep25 yesterday. I got into this industry because of my interest in sheep 🤣 it’s been a life long hyper fixation.

So Let’s talk hyperfixation – that glorious, all-consuming focus that can make time vanish, responsibilities blur, and your Google search history look like a thesis.

But did you know? While ADHDers and autistic folk both experience hyperfixation, the why, how, and impact often look quite different:

ADHD Hyperfixation
• Usually dopamine-driven – the brain latches on to something exciting or novel
• Often spontaneous and can shift rapidly (hello, new obsessions every week!)
• Might feel like falling down a rabbit hole – super fun but can be hard to regulate
• Can look like procrastination to others, but it’s actually deep focus in disguise

Autistic Hyperfixation
• More likely to be a special interest – deep, long-term, often lifelong passions
• Brings comfort, stability, and joy – a way to make sense of the world
• Can be encyclopaedic – people may become true experts in their interests
• Not always seen as “productive” by others, but hugely important for wellbeing

Both can be misunderstood, dismissed, or even pathologised – especially in women and marginalised genders. But they’re not a problem to fix – they’re a part of how our brains connect, explore, and regulate.

Coaching Tip:
Understanding your unique relationship with hyperfixation can help you work with your brain, not against it. Whether it’s building in time for joy-fuelled deep dives, or gently nudging transitions when you need to shift gears – awareness is the key.
