EIN NOS NI 🌙✨🏃‍♀️OWN THE NIGHT

Nosweithiau tywyllach. Yr un rhyddid i redeg. 💛

Mae ymchwil a rannwyd gan yr ymgyrch yn dangos bod 72% o fenywod yn newid eu harferion gweithgarwch yn ystod misoedd y gaeaf. Nod yr ymgyrch yw codi ymwybyddiaeth o ddiogelwch wrth redeg yn y tywyllwch, magu hyder, ac annog cymunedau i fod yn gynghreiriaid gweithgar.

Daliwch ati. Goleuwch y nos. Cefnogwch eich gilydd. 🌟

A huge thank you to Welsh Athletics and South Wales Police for bringing us together for Real Midnight and helping shine a light on women’s safety when running after dark.

As a women’s running community, this is something that matters so much to us. Running should be about freedom, confidence, friendship and feeling good in yourself — not worrying about whether it’s safe to go out for a run.

The statistics speak for themselves:

- 55% of women feel unsafe exercising outdoors alone after dark, compared with 33% of men.
- 70% of women have experienced intimidating behaviour while out running.
- 69% of women are concerned about sexual harassment and intimidation when exercising outdoors after dark.

These aren't just numbers. These are women changing their routes, changing their routines and sometimes missing out on something they love because they don't feel safe.

It's time for things to change. Women deserve to run at any time of day without fear, and we all have a part to play in making that happen.

Thank you for helping raise awareness and for reminding us that we are stronger when we stand together. 🧡

Every woman deserves to feel safe on her run.

It doesn’t seem right that in 2026 we still need evenings dedicated to raising awareness about women’s safety.
.
Whether it’s going for a run, heading out for a walk, or simply making their way home after dark, women should be able to do these things without fear.
.
But here we are.
.
Last night, Crickhowell Running Club came together in support of Own the Night, an initiative supported by Welsh Athletics, bringing people together to raise awareness, show solidarity and stand up for something that shouldn’t need fighting for in the first place.
.
And while evenings like this are important, the responsibility for change shouldn’t fall on women.
.
To the men who think harassment, intimidation or making women feel uncomfortable is acceptable — do better.
And to the rest of us, don’t look the other way. Challenge unacceptable behaviour, call it out when you see it and hold people accountable.
.
As a dad to a young daughter, and as a son whose mum loves getting outdoors, this is something I feel incredibly strongly about. Neither of them, nor any other woman, should have to think twice about going outside simply because of the time of day.
.
As parents, we have a responsibility too. Raise boys who understand respect, boundaries and equality. Raise good men who recognise that strength isn’t about making others feel vulnerable.
.
Women shouldn’t have to change their routes, their routines or their lives just to feel safe.
.
The night belongs to everyone.
.
A huge thank you to Crickhowell Running Club, Welsh Athletics and everyone who came together to support Own the Night.
.
Let’s make sure the message carries far beyond one evening.

Last night was a reminder of why events like this matter. 🏃‍♀️✨

The irony? On my way to an event about women’s safety when running, a man was making kissing noises at me and shouting “very nice” as I passed. 🙃 A reminder that this isn’t just a conversation we need to have — it’s a reality women are still experiencing.
And that’s exactly why we need to keep having these conversations.

The community at @riverside__social was incredible. Seeing so many local clubs come together, spreading the message of #BeTheLight, creating allies and making running safer for women was genuinely special. 💡

Because women should be able to run, walk and exist without feeling unsafe. And creating change isn’t just a conversation for women to have — it’s something we all have a part in.

Huge thank you to @welshathletics and everyone involved in organising such an awesome evening. Cardiff, you really showed up. 🫶

Let’s keep the conversation going and keep being the light. 💛

It’s been an honour to be part of the Own the Night run, running alongside @herownpacerunclub to raise awareness for women’s safety 💜

Taking part in the run was such a special experience, bringing women together through our love of running and our believe that every woman deserves to feel safe, confident and free when she runs. 🫶🏼

As a member of the #runningcommunıty I’m proud to be part of something bigger than running. No woman should have to run in fear, change her route or feel unsafe doing something she loves.

Here’s to women supporting women, building stronger communities and making running a safer space for everyone

OWN THE NIGHT. WE RUN TOGETHER. WE RUN AT HER OWN PACE 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️ 💜

Running Punks x @welshathletics

SUNDAY NIGHT – OWN THE NIGHT RUN - @itslilygb

The sport of running seems simple, but the reality is it has many guises; one of them is running as a radical act.
One of the core tenets of RP is community; and having space for people to feel safe to participate in sport and to have a sense of belonging.
This was the message emanating from the trees above Tongwynlais Sunday night. Lily had curated a lush route that mixed all the joys of tail running with the defiance that the occasion called for. Under the bright autumn moon, and in the crisp night air, we celebrated our community spirit and focused in on the joy of running freely. Also it would be remiss of us to not shoutout to @graceyoun9 for dutifully tail running, and along with Lily, kept us all safe and together.
We welcomed friends from @cardiffpegs and @possibl.hq into our midst as we rounded off a weekend of solidarity.

Thank you all for your efforts this weekend; we are not done yet! The Weekend roundup is on the way!

Own The Night 🩷

What a lovely evening with the girls!🥹 So many lovely faces joined us for our Own The Night social run in support of @welshathletics and such an important campaign.

Lots of running, lots of laughs and finishing the evening with a well-deserved catch-up at @cliolounge in Bangor!

It’s evenings like these that remind me exactly why MonGirlsRun is about so much more than running. Creating a space where women can come together, feel supported, make friends and enjoy being active together will always be at the heart of what we do 🫶🏼

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special evening. Let’s keep looking out for one another and keep the conversation going 🏃🏼‍♀️
