So excited about this one! ✨

From 1–31 September, Dog Ears & Loose Ends will be on display at the amazing House of Joy 📚📚

The submissions have been incredibly exciting, and I’m so thrilled to be working with both HOJ and all of the incredible artists involved. 🖼️✨

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to accept every piece submitted ……. which is certainly one of the hardest parts of the process …… but a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the submission form and share your work with me !!! It was a real pleasure to see so many amazing submissions!

Make sure you get down to House of Joy this September to see the exhibition for yourself. We can’t wait to share it with you! 💛

Kicking off today's introductions with the wonderful @wendy.paint

Wendy started learning watercolour painting at Southend Art College in 2010.

She has developed a style influenced by artists Edward Seago and Edward Wesson.

Wendy has carried over her loose style of watercolour into oils, focusing on palette knife painting.

That’s the first time in a few years that I’ve been asked to use a microphone!! 🎤

On Tuesday evening I had the absolute pleasure to join other selected, very talented motoring artists at @escapadesilverstone , invited to showcase our work at the ‘Art in Motion’ event. A huge thanks to Renata @editorfivestar for organising and generously hosting the event.

It was great to meet the invited guests and talk to the other artists about their work. Check them out and follow …. @c.w.twitchell @gjohnart2025 @vince_edmunds_art @rebeccaivatts and @wild_for_willow
It was also a pleasure to listen to a very interesting talk by @grahamshortofficial including how he works through the night and in between heartbeats!! to enable steady hands for his micro-engraving.

Thanks very much to my guests who came to support me @artlici4_xoxo @wendy.paint and Cheryl 🙏

@escapadesilverstone overlooking the track is an amazing unique accommodation and dining venue open to all, that I recommend should be added to your to do list! By the bar on the restaurant you will be able to see my artwork called ‘Inside Out’ 😎

I managed to get down to Flatford today to see the ‘Carry on Constable’ exhibition by @colchester_art_society and wow… what a gorgeous show!!!

It was so lovely seeing so many people come together for the opening and, as always, seeing lots of familiar faces along the way !!

After running into Jo Rizzato @rizzatojo during the Wivenhoe Art Trail, I just knew I had to make it down today …..and her work absolutely did not disappoint!!
She has such a distinct style and her piece looked amazing in the space.

Another piece I recognised instantly was by Ella Johnston.
@ellajohnstonart ….Her work pulls me straight in… the colours, the texture, the mark making WOW 🤩 it was also amazing to finally meet Ella in person !!

I also met Nicholas Rowe, who has a studio at @cuckoofarmstudios …..It was really lovely hearing more about his practice and chatting about an exhibition he’ll be curating later on in the year, which I will definitely have to attend🙌✨

Overall there was such a huge variety of work on display 👏

It is DEFINITELY worth a visit!!!
And honestly, even more perfect for a day out when you can wander around Flatford afterwards too 🌿✨

So what are you waiting for… it’s on until the 17th!!! 🚶‍♀️

PART 1:

I loved where this wall ended up within the exhibition.

It was originally planned for a different space, but placing it beside the softer, more organic walls made the contrast feel even stronger.

The white frames and darker pieces brought a completely different energy and really drew your eye in!!!

I think what made these works come together so well was actually how different they all were!!!

From coastal imagery and abstraction to playful contemporary pieces, each work had its own distinct personality, yet together they created a wall that felt lively, unexpected and full of contrast!!

Rather than competing with one another, I think that their differences made each piece stand out even more!!

Featuring work by:

Wendy Fisher @wendy.paint ‘Boat Wrecks’

Diana Garrette ‘Wivenhoe Quay’ and ‘Wait for Me’

Louise Craigie @madebyme_louisecraigie ‘Imprint’

Peter Portrays-Butler @peterporteousbutler ‘Barbie Plays the Beach Piano’

Garry Trapp ‘Diptych: The Art of Passing’

And my little sister’s work,

Lily Doel, ‘Drift’ @lili3_xoxo , which she had no idea I was displaying and was added right at last minute ! (Can you spot the person?)

I think it’s so important that creative subjects are encouraged more and that opportunities like this are made more accessible for young artists. It felt really special being able to include her work alongside so many talented creatives.

Somewhere between the work on the walls and the people in the room… everything came to life 🤝

The Gallery at Photovogue welcomes the new exhibition season with “Collaboration” a vibrant season opener featuring two talented artists whose distinctly different styles come together in one beautifully cohesive exhibition.

Showcasing the unique work of Wendy Fisher and Sheila Martin, this exhibition celebrates contrast and harmony in equal measure. Sheila’s work embraces bold colour and mixed media, while Wendy’s palette is soft, warm, and inviting, creating a wonderful visual dialogue between the two collections.

A season opener not to be missed.

Exhibition dates: 4th April – 18th April
Open Day: Saturday 4th April, until 5pm

✨🎄 Christmas Wishes from Dedham Art Society 🎄✨

As we come to the end of the year, we’d like to thank everyone who has been part of Dedham Art Society throughout 2025.

It has been a year filled with creativity, shared learning and friendship, and we are grateful to our members, followers and supporters for being part of our journey.

We’re delighted to share a selection of Christmas-themed artwork by our members, celebrating the season and the creativity that brings our society together.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and creative New Year.

To close, we are delighted to share this beautiful poem by member Wendy Fisher, which captures the spirit of Dedham Art Society so perfectly:

Dedham Art Society – Christmas Poem

In Dedham’s heart, a creative crowd,
Artists gather, with passion proud.
From Essex and Suffolk, they come to share,
Their love of art, and show they care.

Friendly faces, meeting with glee,
To paint, to learn, to be wild and free.
Workshops abound, with expert guides,
Inspiring techniques and artistic tides.

Plein air painting, beneath the sun’s warm light,
Capturing landscapes in morning’s golden sight.
Ideas flow, as artists share and show,
Supporting each other as their art grows.

A society vibrant, with camaraderie true,
Where creativity flourishes and friendships shine through.

Dedham Art Society, a haven for the soul,
Where art and joy entwine, making hearts whole.

Warmest wishes from Dedham Art Society, surrounded by new friends and artistic delights.

Here’s to a joyous Christmas
and many more brushstrokes in the New Year. 🎨✨🎄
