Workout pumpkin to carving pumpkin 🎃🔪

@alemonroy22 annual Pumpkin Workout was another smash success and we enjoyed hanging last night for our rooftop pumpkin carving social. Two days of very orange NPSF energy 🧡

Comin at ya next Friday!

We’ve got a good tough 4.4-mile run, a nice gentle 2-mile hike. Routes are on Strava, join the event or the group.

Remember, this is a social run, not a training run. The goal of this group is to spend time out in nature together. The back of the pack should never lose sight of the front of the pack. Please keep this in mind, it’s a crucial element of me keeping this group up and running.

See ya next week.

Thinkin of yall!

A route is rattling around my brain. Will post soon 👏

But details, details, the ones you need to know:

6:15am meet / 6:30am start
📍Griffith Park / Merry Go Round
Coffee/Donut Duty: Jason
Run: 4-5 miles
Hike: 2.5ish miles

Reminder! This is a social run group. My goal has always been to keep runners pretty close together so no one is running alone (including myself, who has ended up being alone between two groups the past couple runs keeping eyes on everyone 🥺). Please keep that in mind!

We’ve done it! We have officially launched our monthly run under the Dirty Paws run club name!

Housekeeping since this is *our* group (that I lead)

🐾 Big thanks to Will, who couldn’t be at the run but was there in spirit by being our first coffee ☕️ & doughnuts 🍩 supporter. I’ll get a signup list going — I’m happy to do pickup!

🐾 I’ll start making a hike route. Since I’m just a single person leading, it will be unsupported, but we want to make a space for anyone who wants to be part of our group

🐾 @ninjacrayon had a great idea — the stamp will be available at each run and after, you can choose to get the # of stamps that the rating is stamped on whatever you’d like (shirt, I have some blank cards, shorts, etc). First to 15 stamps will get some kind of prize TBD.

🐾 Welcome to our new runners! We were happy to have you! Someone remind me to do a pre-run ice breaker next month!

Next month’s run is August 28th and we meet at the Old Pony Rides, 6:15am!

Last minute but @ninjacrayon Ko has a paw stamp (and Wilder black ink) and he’s ready to use it to commemorate our launch!

Bring a shirt that can be stamped tomorrow! A stamp per run, perhaps? We’ll see! Dog shirts can also be stamped!

See you tomorrow morning — 6:15am at Travel Town i#(the dirt lot) in Griffith Park!

Hugs,
KO (not to be confused with Ko)

Ran my first Cease & Desist this year and had a great time. Cease & Desist is an unsanctioned street race from downtown LA to the Santa Monica Pier, a little over 17 miles run as a relay.

I was asked to join the team three days before the race, showed up on three hours of sleep, and ran the first leg. I somehow managed to PR my 5K at 20:40 on a 6:39 pace, which I’ll gladly take.

Luckily I had previously run another relay race with two of my teammates so it was a nice unexpected reunion. Good people make hard things easier.

Big shout out to my teammates in relay order: @jonjonjin, @chiuology, @wermusam, and @jollyrogerjonesy.

Run 1 in our new era as Dirty Paws Run Club!

There will be coffee and snacks!

Very excited to see you all it’s felt like FOREVER!

If you saw the original route I changed it ever so slightly because I connected a couple trails with a singletrack and it feels right to start with that! Same distance/climbing though!

Check our strava event for route details.

See you at Travel Town NEXT FRIDAY, last Friday of the month!
