the world cup draw felt like football stuck behind glass. distant…so we broke it — literally. channel 10 made it feel like ours again.

dc is a soccer city and this sport is nothing without this community. and even without a world cup match, we’re going to keep proving it by building the spaces that matter, the ones shaped by the people who really love this game. love to everyone who participated, came through, or just supported.

appreciate @saturdaysfootball + @whereisfootball for partnering with us, and every vendor who pulled up and poured into the day. we’re just getting started.

friday at the warehouse showed us exactly where the sport is… and where it should be.

the world cup draw was a 🎪 — commercialized, over-produced, disappointing. a stage built for politics, not football. honestly, it felt about as meaningful as the sunday league medal… the “peace prize” that tr*mp walked away with. gold foil on a participation ribbon.

so we did what we do in this city, created our own world of the day. we watched the nonsense, cocreated joy, then hit the court for real football: 3s on concrete, joy, sweat, laughter… the sport as it’s actually lived in its purest form.

thank you to @rrosefromconcrete, @torobar14th_st, @friendsoverbread, @rinconrum, and @travelfutbolfan for making the day feel full.

and so much gratitude for @saturdaysfootball + @whereisfootball for being amazing partners to us and helping us bring this day to life.

shoutout to every team that stepped on the court. and a special congrats to juancelona for taking home the cup. well deserved.

at the end of the day, we care about the World Cup because it’s the pinnacle of football, it’s the moment every nation dreams toward. it’s supposed to mean something… which is why it deserves better than what we saw on stage. but until it does, we will keep creating space for the version of the game we believe in…tuning into our own frequency — channel 10 📺
