The walls of the Esperanza Arts Center shook with joy last weekend at the grand finale of the Lifting Voices in Praise gospel competition!

We were truly awed by the performances, energy and feeling of community in the building as we celebrated the multi-generational marvel that is gospel music.

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all who joined us in this project - the planning committees, judges, production team, hosts, volunteers, @philadanco, WHYY staff and most of all, those who shared their incredible talent with us. Our region’s deep gospel history was honored in fantastic fashion.

Best Youth Choir & Best Overall: Pine Forge Academy Choir
Best Adult Choir: Nick Reynolds & Family Affair
Best Ensemble: WeRRedemption
Best Soloist: Kesha Lee

Stay tuned to WHYY-TV 12 this February for the premiere of “Gospel” with @henrylouisgates #GospelPBS
