Leo Bakiri is a producer and sound architect based in San Diego, California, with a sound defined by control, tension, and emotional depth. His perspective is shaped by time living in Istanbul, London, and Rome, alongside his North African roots, where sound, space, and emotion intersect.

His sound unfolds with intention, moving through darker textures into emotional release, treating the dancefloor as a space to be designed rather than simply played. Leo’s presence is less about moments and more about imprint, shaped by movement across cultures, leaving a trace that travels beyond borders.

His debut release on Bedouin’s Human By Default marks a key early step, aligning him with one of the scene’s most influential labels. With new music and collaborations in the pipeline and a growing global presence, 2026 marks a defining moment, a point where what’s been building quietly begins to surface.

Welcome to Sonique for representation. 🌍

Deep Dance Diaries (DDD) is a mix series project that we started with @leobakiri a few months ago. There was never a plan to promote it or turn it into something bigger. It was simply that we were spending more and more time in the studio producing instead of behind the decks. We wanted an excuse to dig through tracks we love and tell a story with them. Its our own experimental playground, a small sonic diary.

In a world constantly focused on what’s next, we often forget the beauty of what was and what is. The next big release, the next trend, the next sound. But when it comes to house music, I think there’s a lot of magic in looking back. In reinterpreting the old and bringing it back into the life together with the new. Part of Deep Dance Diaries vision is to do this. To bring the old into new light and combine it with new. To create a short but meaningful story by doing so.

A few nights ago, I recorded DDD Chapter #3, and it felt different. I really liked it. Its raw, weird and romantic. Here is how it goes… The mix opens with DJ Koze’s remix of “Mango Cookies,” a beautifully odd, dreamlike track. DJ Koze truly is a mad scientist of sound, and his productions are destined to remain timeless. The mix then goes into Robag Wruhme’s remix of Permanent . I first heard this track a few weeks ago in-person while Robag was playing it in San Diego and thought that it would fit right into the storyline. Around minute 37 is one of the peak moments of the set where i play a new unreleased track from me and Leo called “My Eyes Your Eyes” , set to see daylight in 2026. The mix ends with Flash (Pachanga Boys Remix) , its a driving yet romantic farewell.

If you’ve made it this far down the caption, then you’re a 🌟 If you want to give the mix a listen there is a link in my bio to the Soundcloud page. I hope it takes you somewhere unexpected.

Love,
Tim
