It’s been a BUSY few months, to say the least. We’ve been in production on two film projects and a handful of magazine shoots. My head is spinning but I’ve learned so much. Here are a few highlights:

1. We filmed sessions at the Abortion in America convening in New Orleans. I had the chance to hear the legendary Loretta Ross speak and I listened to heartbreaking stories from people who’ve lost loved ones or almost lost their life because of the widespread abortion bans. It was an honor to capture their words and tears.

2. We also filmed at the SisterSong convening in Atlanta. Birth workers and doulas in the South are superheroes. They are literally saving lives. The convening gave them a rare opportunity to rest, reflect, and be in community with one another.

3. I love my friends and the crew we’ve built to tell these powerful stories. Shout out to the crew!

4. I’m just honored to do this work. It can be EXHAUSTING but it’s fulfilling. I work full time at Planned Parenthood too, so nights and weekends are often filled with planning. Still, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is my dream come true.

5. Go Knicks! 🏀

“saghat” was written for us by @adeliiacomposer for the 2023 loretto project • in tatar, saghat can mean time, a clock, an hour, or a moment ⏳ it’s wild how much our experience of time changes through life • at any given moment, timeflow may feel very different for each of us • understanding why can bring us closer to empathy and understanding • truly grateful for adeliia’s artistry and dedication •

〰️ featuring our slippy glass guitar slides 〰️ “float/shake” is by @hannahishizaki, one of our fab 2023 loretto project fellows • inspired by gaga movement language, which draws movement out of physical sensation, emotion, and imagination • creating music with hannah was rad - we’re so grateful for her artistry and contributions to the project • full video in bio •
