@florencepugh is preternaturally poised and generous, even to those she’s just met. She appears at ease even when answering personal questions and is quick with a compliment and an affectionate epithet, calling everyone from her driver to a waitress “my love” or “darling.”

In short, she really is that rarest of creatures: someone BuzzFeed once described as “fun, talented, and unproblematic.” And unlike many (most?) young women in this industry, she’s figured out a way to control the narrative around her without coming off as controlling.

“I could spontaneously imagine her as someone raised in a royal family,” Denis Villeneuve, director of the ‘Dune’ trilogy, tells Vanity Fair.
