Life has moved so fast over the 20yrs of me cutting hair professionally in Hollywood. So many commercial sets, music videos, publication shoots and so forth that I rarely have spoken about on socials or in general . This particular album cover by @brckhmptn was one of the many moments referred to. I remember when @jobaisreal was just like “I wanna switch it up and try a crazy mullet”. Always willing to do things differently I said ok let’s do it and the rest was history! Forever grateful for @kevinabstract and his vision. Lowkey I was kinda over cutting celebrities after my brother was killed in 2017 so when Abstract needed a cut I was slick tapped out of the profession…or at least I thought! The entire BROCKHAMPTON group were so nice to me that it not only reenergized my spirit as a barber but truly as a human being. The joy they displayed making their music and chasing their dreams inspired me to get back to a happy place in life. All that said this album and its covers both front and back are very special to me. GINGER marked an era in my life for sure that I will never forget! HIGH VIBES ONLY! ⚡️💈👁️

"Take the odds, I'll keep dreaming." GINGER will always be a very special album for me. I was in my Junior year of high school when this came out, which hit me deep in the whirlwind of my BROCKHAMPTON phase, which began a little more than a year prior. Experiencing the rollout of this album was just pure magic for me. Week after week, new snippet here, new profile picture there, new music video after another, each one topping the last, and then the climax of the album dropping on August 23rd. I will never forget the way this album made me feel. GINGER finds BROCKHAMPTON in the depression stage of grief after losing one of their closest friends and band members, following their stage of Anger that was 2018's iridescence. GINGER's light and dusty old-school hip-hop aesthetic is weighed heavy with grieving and mournful spoken-word ballads, melancholic "cry in the club" dance-pop bangers, and themes of religion, loss of childhood, change, and of course, grief. Even the kinetic highs of this album are dulled by a sense of dread and lack of energy. I think much of Kevin's vocals throughout the project exemplify this the clearest. I think that more than anything, all of BROCKHAMPTON'S music bleeds a feeling of brotherhood. Of kinship. Of childhood dreams come to fruition. And in no album is the idea of brotherhood persevering stronger than on GINGER. BROCKHAMPTON- GINGER 2019 FAV TRACKS: NO HALO, BOY BYE, HEAVEN BELONGS TO YOU, IF YOU PRAY RIGHT, DEARLY DEPARTED, I BEEN BORN AGAIN, GINGER, LOVE ME FOR LIFE @brckhmptn @kevinabstract @himattchampion @jobaisreal @smilemerlyn @dom.mclennon @bearfaceington @rcarecords
