Ben would be so proud of us.

We could feel his presence in all of the moments, big and small during his birthday celebration.

Thank you to everyone who planned, supported, and showed up for his memory and for each other.

What a day

While Damian backflipped his way into oblivion, young rippers like Jesse Johnson led the charge into the mid-90s with fresh moves and gritty street style. Common denominator… Black Flys on everyone’s mug. #blackflys

Jesse Johnson floats one through the trees on the F-Max. He joined the Avalanche team as a pretty young guy, and the boards we sent him were maybe slightly big for him. But he ripped em anyway, with big boy style. 👊🏼

Postcards from the edge No.2 … You WANT TO READ THIS ONE. Shane Peterson’s role at Avalanche would best be described as ‘Special Ops.’ Everything he did was two or three steps beyond rational, including jumping big cliffs without photographers shooting. Perpetual team rider, board tester/breaker, delivery driver, welder of metal stuff, trade show booth builder and burner… yes… “burner.” He set our trade show booth on fire, ON PURPOSE. In the 95/96 season when we had the ‘emergency response’ graphics, our trade show booth for ISPO in Munich, Germany was supposed to look like a building that had burned down. Shane said he “had a plan” to achieve that effect. It turns out the plan was to actually 🔥 BURN IT DOWN. 🔥I helped him disassemble the booth the night before the show opened, reassemble it in the parking lot of the convention center, and set it on fire. At 2am. And then extinguish it, with fire extinguishers we ‘borrowed’ from our hotel. And then reassemble it, before the opening bell at 8am. One hour of sleep before the start of our biggest show of the year. At least we didn’t go to German jail. This f/side slash is Shane being super calm and zen. Photo by Rob Gracie @robgraciephoto 📷
