A strong community starts with opportunities for people to learn, grow and build their future.

Caliber 1 was proud to support West Georgia Technical College Foundation’s annual Black Tie & Boots event, which helps provide scholarships, student support and workforce development opportunities across West Georgia.

Representing Caliber 1 was Superintendent Austin Childers and HR Manager, Kelly Jordan, who leads our Building My Blueprint internship program and works closely with our interns throughout their time with us. With WGTC students participating in our internship program, the connection between education and career opportunities is one Kelly gets to see firsthand.

We were also proud to serve as the commercial general contractor for WGTC’s new Stanley H. Bressner Industrial Technology Building where they will help prepare students for careers in high-demand trades.

Today we're highlighting Newnan-Coweta Chamber board member, Dr. Julie Post.

Dr. Julie Post was appointed President of @wgtc in 2021. Her career began as a high school teacher and adjunct instructor before joining Gwinnett Technical College in 2005. During her 16-year tenure, she served in leadership roles focused on institutional research, effectiveness, strategic planning, accreditation, and organizational performance. In 2012, she was named VP of Student Affairs, overseeing enrollment management, student affairs, and institutional effectiveness. She led the creation of the College's One Stop Enrollment Support Center, enhancing student access and support services.

Since arriving at West Georgia Tech, Julie has led major campus expansion and workforce development initiatives. WGTC has also achieved enrollment growth for 11 consecutive semesters while producing historic student outcomes under her leadership. The College recently awarded a record 4,500 credentials, graduated more than 2,800 students, and maintained a 99% job placement rate. For three consecutive years, the College is the only institution in Georgia selected to receive the Metallica Scholars program.

Julie holds a BS in Business Education from Northern Kentucky University, an MAT from Marygrove College, and an EdD from the University of Georgia. Her dissertation received the Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award from the University Council on Workforce and Human Resource Education. Committed to community engagement, she serves on the Chamber of Commerce boards for Carroll, Douglas and Newnan-Coweta, as well as Carroll Tomorrow and the Troup Strategy Center. Her leadership has earned statewide recognition, including being named to @georgiatrend "500 Most Influential Leaders" for five consecutive years, the @douglascountychamber Celebrate Her "Disrupt-Her" Award, the @carrollcountychamber Woman of the Year Award, and the @nicholscenter Hero Award.

The University of West Georgia is expanding opportunities for students through Wolf Bound, a new transfer pathway between #UWG and West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) that creates a seamless pathway to a bachelor’s degree.

Together, we’re removing barriers, strengthening regional partnerships, and creating a future powered by possibility. I look forward to welcoming many future Wolves through this exciting collaboration. #GoWolves

Yesterday, we brought together our senior leaders and people leaders from across the company for our HCCU Leadership Essentials Workshop. The day focused on equipping our leaders with practical tools to grow stronger and more confident while reinforcing the responsibilities that come with leading people. From leadership fundamentals and employment law to ethical, fair, and respectful workplace practices, everything connected back to the values that define Harrison Contracting Company—leading with Image, taking Responsibility, working with Diligence, and maintaining Uncompromising standards in every interaction. We are committed to investing in great leaders who are ready to lead the HCC way!

HCC University is our internal commitment to developing, training, and equipping our teams for growth to deliver favorable experiences to our clients, our vendors, and our teams. Thank you, HCC team, for your continued commitment! Thank you also to our partners at Frontline HR & Training for facilitation and guidance, and to West GA Technical College for use of their training facilities.

Mayor Jim Arrington and the LaGrange City Council were honored to recognize 91-year-old Helen Woodyard this evening. Ms. Woodyard recently earned her GED through West Georgia Tecnical College becoming the oldest person in Georgia in the past decade to earn a GED! 🎓✨

Helen began taking classes at age 88, inspired by the accomplishments of her four children and determined to achieve a goal she had always wanted to accomplish.

Her words say it best: “I kept going because I don’t quit anything that I start.”

Helen’s family joined her for the special recognition at the City Council meeting.

Congratulations, Helen! Your determination is an inspiration and a wonderful reminder that it is never too late to pursue a dream. Your city is proud of you! 🎓❤️✨

Looking back on the West Georgia Technical College commencement, I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate these students who chose to keep moving forward and invest in their futures.

One moment that has stayed with me was seeing 91-year-old Helen Woodward receive her GED. What a reminder that growth, perseverance, and purpose have no limit.

Growth isn’t always about having the answers or following the path we expected. Sometimes it’s found in the difficult seasons—in choosing to keep going, discovering new purpose through adversity, and believing there is still something ahead worth pursuing.

It was a privilege to share a few words that day, but an even greater privilege to witness that kind of determination firsthand. Congratulations again to Helen and every graduate who crossed that stage!
