A tribute to one of our best girls on what would be her 16th birthday. Hartley Day passed away December 16th, 2025 snuggled together with her family. She was the thing I dreamed of as a kid. Having my own dog. She was so many things. A wild child for her early years but fiercely loyal. The fastest runner I knew. A lady who loved a cuddle but on her own terms. The only girl I could count on to be hungry at all times. She taught me how to care for someone, to be patient and responsible, to love fully and with my whole heart. She was truly one of my best friends. A touch point in my life. Someone who will forever be with me as part of who I am. She was just a dog but she was our dog, our sister, our girl. It has been two weeks of pure and utter merriment. 🪄

Decorating, countless delicious meals made, martinis shaken, fires stoked, a trillion and seven gifts wrapped and unwrapped.
Party time and quiet time.
Cousins, family, sometimes a half a second to yourself. Bottomless morning iced coffee by the fire, snow falling, Barbie’s and American girl doll playing all day.
Movies watched, darts thrown, stitches knitted … dancing, sledding, reading - finally slowing down.

How lucky are we? Safe and happy, healthy and warm.
All I could ever wish for and more.

Happy new year, to more of all of this in 2026 and quite frankly, forever. 🤍

The Bernard Rental living room is getting a little update this December. We originally dreamed of a wood-burning fireplace, but it just wasn’t in the budget during the build. So we paused on the idea, saved a little and pivoted to a more affordable solution. This month we’re adding a small direct-vent gas stove — renter friendly, great as a secondary heating source and we have an idea to hopefully make it feel more special. Stay tuned
