After discovering a newfound love for writing through telling a couple o' tales at @seanchoiche , I wanted to set myself a challenge and try write my first poem, inspired by the theme 'Firsts & Lasts'.

Last week I finally got to read it aloud to a room full of strangers (..aaaand my mum and dad).

It's a simple poem, it doesn't have intricately woven literary devices or metaphorical layers, it won't be studied in GCSE literature classrooms or be printed in any books, but I'm pretty proud of it. And so I wanted to share it here, to celebrate that.

For Margaret and John, Ma and Da.
