Still here, doinking around with fiber. Several people in my close circle are going through huge life changes right now and it’s been a lot. I am trying to stay positive and focus on small things, like the joy on my kids’ faces when we dropped them both off at birthday parties this weekend, getting two handwritten letters in the mail, and Gene painting the orange dining room a neutral color so we no longer have to feel like we are swimming in a pumpkin spiced latte while eating dinner. (Oddly, the paint color we chose is “Steamed Chai”. ☕️)

I’ve been not so productive on the spinning front lately, but I did manage to fill up one spindle and start a second. Fun fact: I made matching batts for Viv and me (the batt I’m currently spinning), which she spun and wove into the fabric that she used to sew this project bag. 🤯

I finished spinning the last of this guts batt from @mellyknits! It’s Corriedale/cashgora and I started spinning it back in July. It feels so good to finish this. I still need to ply it but it’s one small thing that I can cross off of my mental to-do list.

Day 2 of #nostressspinalong! I rescoured this 2023 CVM fleece from @ebrfarm (“Biskit”) last week. It is really soft and fine, so in an effort to avoid overprocessing it, I’m flicking it on my @clemesandclemes lock pop and spinning from the lock on my @lady_greensleeves_ drop spindles. In the picture, scoured wool is on the left, and flicked locks are on the right. I spin from the cut end.

I am really enjoying using my @thefabricatorium ring distaff on this drop spindle spin. @whatvivdoes has a reel of using it down instead of up, which felt immediately comfortable to me. I put it on my middle finger, pointing toward my elbow.

we've lost track of which stage we're in already, which truly indicates that we are still in our "no teams, just vibes" era. that said, we've spun with three beloved humans in the flesh this week -- @lazylivinfiber + @battyfibers + @raeli.makes.chaos (each separately!!). while we may be #TeamlessOfSpinovar, we are never truly alone.

started the second half of our 3-ply two ways today -- this half will be the chain ply, so we've migrated from bossies to turks. this one is 3d printed by @battyfibers & available in her web shop :)

was too dark to post the end of stage 2 last night, so here's a lil monday morning treat -- the start of a @whatvivdoes inspired 3-ply two ways with @tetonyarncompany on my beloved bossies, who are now all camped out & snug as a bug in a rug in their woven 3-ply two ways sleeping bag. #TeamlessOfSpinovar

My first part of tour de fleece is plying a bunch of projects I meant to have finished by now. I had filled a couple of support spindles with some freakishly soft wool that Melody had stuffed into a spindle box and sample rolags from @hikari.handmade, so today, I plied them together on an @allenrberry spindle.

Tour de fleece! I sent myself an assortment of fiber from my best fiber friends and my favorite dyers/wool processors/shepherdesses, as well as my wheel and all of my spindles, which I didn’t want to risk sticking in storage. I’m excited!
