Filming @hwdi.tv healed my inner child 🥺🫶 I was bullied so badly when I was just a kid in elementary school for being different and having one leg. It impacted my mental health so much that I didn’t want to live, I had to switch schools for my safety, and it led me to covering my prosthetic leg for over 10 years. I hated my disability back then. No child deserves to feel that kind of pain. Ever. And that’s why this show is SO IMPORTANT. It’s a place where children of ALL abilities hangout and accept each other for who they are. Not only did I learn so much more about myself and my journey while filming this, but I learned a lot about others and their perspective around disability and inclusion. I have faith that things are getting better 💖 And I believe a show like this is part of that change! I cannot thank the cast & crew of How We Do It enough. Nothing like Saturday morning TV! @hwdi.tv premiered today! 💫 Catch the 3-episode premiere on @accessiblemediainc tv (for free)! ❣️ … I am beyond excited for this shows release, it has been such a surreal ride. How We Do It is a show that I needed when I was a kid. Having an opportunity to do AMI’s apprenticeship program was such an honour and I never would have imagined that the pitch I did at 19 would become a TV show by the time I was 22. I am so thankful for all the love and support behind this project, I know that so many kids (and adults) across the country (and hopefully the world one day!) will feel seen in HWDI. ⭐️ And like Pawnee’s Leslie Knopp (nerdy, I know) said, you don’t achieve anything by yourself. So, thank you. Thank you to Adrian Dean (@_adriandean) who produced the show and was ready to trust a 19-year-old with her vision, AMI and Jim Krysko for taking me under their wing, Allison Lang (@allisonelang), Donovan Whyte (@wheel1r7), Crispi Lord (@crispicrunch) and Allison Ewert (@veryhappypuppets) for bringing this show to life, the entire cast and crew behind HWDI for being so passionate and excited for the show, all my friends and classmates for always supporting my goals, my professors at TMU (@thecreativeschl) for giving me the support and confidence I needed to take this leap, The War Amps (@thewaramps) for guiding me and so many other CHAMPS to take pride in my amputation, my family, my amazing partner who is my biggest cheerleader, and most importantly, my mother Amanda who has always been my number one supporter through all that I do. TODAY IS THE DAY: @hwdi.tv is finally out to watch!!!! We poured our heart n’ soul into this TV show 💖✨ I’m so proud & grateful of the team that made this project come to life! I wish a show like this existed when I was a kid. It would have helped me understand my thoughts around my disability sooner, but it feels really special to be involved in this show to help younger kids navigate those feelings now 💕 How We Do It is a show for all kids!
