Today’s local author festival was truly amazing and inspiring to be around authors just like myself.

I am so lucky to have the support of my publisher with me @renettagunnstevens @sophisticatedsentencesorg choosing to self publish through Sophisticated Press has been so uplifting and enriching.

Publishing a book has opened so many doors for me, and in return I have created my legacy in writing, impactful, and inspiring books for the next generation!

To my fellow authors it was so nice to meet all of you and hear about all of your beautifully unique stories. The books you are creating are going to help cultivate the next generation, and through meeting you I know they are in good hands. #licalAuthor #supportLocal #elmhurstlibrary #sandyselfpublished #sophisticatedpress #representationmatters #nonprofitlife #selfpublishedauthor #bookstagram

Burst Into Books
W.O.W. Literary Fest 2023
To say this 2nd annual event was lit 🔥 would be an understatement. I have never seen such a well choreograph, family-focused event which was comprehensively designed, planned, organized, and executed to the smallest of details. The objective was to bring families together while promoting literacy in a fun and effective manner. ✅

This free-to-the-public event showcased Black authors and offered so many activities and resources including health stations, story time, various types of arts & crafts, musical activities, football, basketball, double Dutch rope jumping, the South Shore Drill Team, live DJ, food trucks, classes, and so much more.

It was important to me to ensure my granddaughter Kennedy was in attendance today, with her having missed last year’s inaugural event. Kennedy had so much fun! So of course, she wanted to go to the park afterwards. Not today princess. Papa is already one nap short! 😆

Huge shout out to Jurema Gorham and Burst Into Books, for such an incredible event in our community. Jurema, you outdid yourself this year, which is not surprising me. Much love and respect for such a masterpiece!

🛍️SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY 🛍️. I had a wonderful time, and was able to meet some great vendors at the @shopblck a few weeks ago in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center (I never seem to leave empty handed 🤣). Wonderful people, great 🎶, talented artists and small business owners. I can’t wait to 👀 what @shopblck has planned for Juneteenth! #smallbusinesssaturday #supportsmallbusiness #supportblackownedbusinesses #dayfunwithmom

Burst Into Books Hybrid Bookclub
Baby Bookworms
My granddaughter Kennedy and I were unable to make the book club session last month but we are here today. In addition to authors reading their books aloud to the participants, there were also several age-appropriate activities to keep the participants engaged. It was so much fun, Kennedy wanted to stay for the kindergarten - 2nd grade session. Books were available for purchase directly from the authors, as well as many other new books were available to participants for FREE. Executive Director Jurema Gorham utilizes books to stimulate the minds of children, both in-person and virtually. Kudos!

Everyone must confirm that they wanted to be included - I will not add folks who are just tagged but do not confirm. If you were included the last time around - I got you, but still include a friend!
