The 28th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival - Sunday - in Birmingham, Alabama. Photographed on August 30th, 2026. More photos can be found by going to the link in my profile, clicking on the “Photos” tab, and then clicking on “Events | Galleries” (If I didn’t tag you - it’s because I can only tag 20 accounts in a post) And, on a personal note, this was the 7th Sidewalk I photographed. This year was the best of those 7 years for so many different reasons. Everything just came together wonderfully. I want to thank my AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE team of photographers who covered the festival all week, the AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE team of volunteers who worked the festival all week, and the AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE professional staff at Sidewalk who worked ALL YEAR to put this festival together. I also want to thank all the great filmmakers who shared their art and creations with all of us, and I want to thank the fantastic guests we had all week. There were so many people that came to the festival this year, and it was wonderful seeing all the venues filled with people experiencing the films on display. The 28th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival has come to a close and yesterday felt like the last day of summer camp, but I’m already looking forward to doing all again next year at the 29th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival. Happy Sidewalk! @sidewalkfilm 📷 = Fujifilm X-T5 | @fujifilmx_us The Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama

We had the honor of opening one fest and closing another in the same week 🫢 On August 4, Sound & Color played at @flickers.riiff opening night, at the incomparable @provpacri . It was a dream to screen our film alongside such talented artists in an 100 year old theater. Thank you so much to the Flickers team @quirk220 @ejoyaproductions for this honor. On August 9, Sound & Color closed out @greenpointfilmfestival alongside @whenwewerelive. This former home of MTV was the most unique venue we’ve screened in, and were so lucky to have @sarahkraning and @charlielaud2 for their first festival screening of S&C. We are excited to share more screenings soon!! Photo credits: Fiona Chen; RIIFF

🎬 ANNOUNCING OUR 2026 HONORABLE MENTIONS! 🌟 Every year, our programmers and jury are moved by the extraordinary vision, craft, and passion brought to the Greenpoint Film Festival. While the competition was fierce, these five remarkable films truly captured our hearts and left a lasting impression on our team. Huge congratulations to our 2026 Honorable Mentions: ✨ Blisters I thoroughly enjoyed the visual storytelling of this short. The team did a fantastic job capturing the “American Dream” of the era, blending the realities of immigrant life with the glamour of New York City in 1983. I especially loved watching Moon slip into fantasies of celebrity, beautifully captured through the vintage visual language of the time. The production design and art direction are outstanding, reflecting a level of craft and collaboration that deserves to be celebrated. - Andrea Purcigliotti Thank you to the brilliant directors, cast, and crew members behind these incredible stories for sharing your artistry with our Brooklyn community. We can’t wait to see where your filmmaking journeys take you next! 👏🎥 Give these films and filmmakers some love in the comments below! 👇 #GreenpointFilmFestival #GPFF2026 #IndieFilm #HonorableMention #Filmmakers 🎬 ANNOUNCING OUR 2026 HONORABLE MENTIONS! 🌟 Every year, our programmers and jury are moved by the extraordinary vision, craft, and passion brought to the Greenpoint Film Festival. Huge congratulations to our 2026 Honorable Mentions: ✨ Lake Pleiad Lake Pleiad follows an aging professor returning to his cherished summer retreat for the first time since the death of his husband. I thought the film beautifully captured love, loss, and the quiet process of healing. The performances, storytelling, and imagery are all terrific, and there’s something very honest and moving in the way the film portrays grief, not as something that simply disappears, but as something we learn to carry. Its emotional honesty, tenderness, and sense of hope really stayed with me. - James Madio Thank you to the brilliant

Thank you @filmoakcliff! Your southern hospitality made my first time in Texas a great one. The sun was extra radiant, but that's just how Iike it, baby. Amazing programming and turnouts as a whole. You run a nice ship @theashtoncampbell. Where else can you go to a cumbia rave behind the movie theater screen?? Our audience for Micronations was a really good one, with even a round of applause at a pivotal moment in the movie! Special thanks to Queen Carolyn of @republicofladonia making her way down for the fun. More screenings announcing soon! Photo shared by Joe Kowalski on August 10, 2026 tagging @thecshel. May be an image of text that says 'FILM FEDI 1-Ang -Aug'.
