On Monday, George Floyd was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after the officer pinned him to the ground by his knee, strangling him to death. Many have been sharing the tragic event on social media to raise awareness, which is of course useful, but there are other steps you can take. A Black Lives Matter activist who goes by the handle @.tpwkhollands on Twitter, shared some of these steps; in America, people can text "FLOYD" to 55156 and "JUSTICE" to 668366 to call for justice for George Floyd. The Change.org petition "Justice for George Floyd", which urges "charges to be filed immediately", has 2.5m signatures and counting currently; the URL for that petition is http://chng.it/BcGhfCBbZB. Americans can also contact the Minneapolis District Attorney, Mike Freeman to tell his office to push for the prosecution of the officers responsible; to achieve the same purpose, you can also call Jacob Frey, the city's mayor, at 612-673-2100. A GoFundMe page has been set up for his family, which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet. When you do share, avoid sharing graphic videos, as they can be triggering; share alternate posts like the graphic by @wherearethegraphics that we have shared in this post. Finally, as tragic as this event is, it is sadly only one event in a long line of cases of police brutality perpetuated by white police officers against African Americans; and to really help solve the issue, donate to Black Lives Matter. The link will be in our bio for a limited time.

Vania Prananto is a versatile artist. The Jakarta-born-and-bred 17-year-old, who calls herself a "part-time art enthusiast", dabbles in a variety of genres, from clean, modern digital illustrations, to organic physical structures, to grainy, authentic photography overlaid with messages and doodles. But Prananto is not a "jack of all trades, master of none" as the saying goes; she produces truly beautiful, and thought-provoking works in every genre she puts her hand to. We talked to Vania, who goes by @wherearethegraphics on Instagram, about her art and what fuels the fire of her ambition; see the full interview at the link in bio.
